I think the NFL wants more scoring to help get their rating back up.

Are we sure scoring is what made the NFL fun to watch?

I always thought it was the premise that scoring vs the defenses via the pass was extremely difficult and put the QB at risk... the adrenal rush you'd get watching Elway drop back on a 3rd and 6 as Greg Lloyd came racing around his blind side was what made me tune in....

Watching Rod Woodson put WRs in his pocket and guys like Millard and Doleman sack Harbaugh's and Favres was must see TV.

Today it's kind of reversed and there's no adrenaline rush watching it...instead there's a hold your breath, wait for the referee to change the game rush. That's not must see TV

KVB this is what I told JJ when he said I put 25k on the Heat to win the Finals.

            8 games, 6 went over.

The other two were pushes or to close to call. The Card game wound up 52 (final 31-21) and that's pretty much where the total settled at kickoff.
The Miami game ended 31-23 (54 total) the two closers I saw were 54.5 so let's call that an under.

So depending on where you bet the eight early games the overs were either 7-1 or 6-1-1.

The defensive backs are practicing 6 ft social distancing from the receivers. This is a new NFL rule for this year.

                Not particularly.
You know me, I'm old school, give me a 2-0 pitchers duel in baseball over a 12-8 homer fest every time.

Same with football, give me a game with 1985 Bears defense or the 1986 Giants defense everytime.
I like a 14-10 smash mouth NFL game.

                But that's just me.

A few teams are thinking of not fielding punters as some games have either no or a couple punts.

Your Falcon game should be fun tomorrow night.

I agree...it's the adrenaline rush, as a fan, knowing that an error puts a speedy runner on base, and a mistake low and away to a good batter gets dumped down the line for a double (not today thou- today that's a strikeout and errors dont matter because teams hit 200 hrs a year)... but more so in FB. Anytime that QB dropped back longer than 5 steps you knew he was going to get blasted!!! Those throws over the middle were death traps, and I enjoyed watching Emmit and Barry and Okoye and Foster run 30 times grinding it out just to set up the one or two play actions that may work for scores. It was a chess match then largely without referee interference....today it's not really exciting at all until the last 5 minutes. Both teams just kinda tred water till the end.

The old coaches like Mcarthy and Rivera and Quinn can't comprehend this new style and I don't blame them, it's not real football....it's the Nike 7 on 7 pass league

You have to roll with the times. I'm 54 and I get what you're saying, but the wide open game moves the ball faster and puts up more points.

You can always compare football to war because its the game that was set up to be a miniature war. Napoleon moved his formations and turned the flank of his enemy and Robert E. Lee was a great strategist, etc. Now a general would push some buttons and drones would rain down. Its not as challenging, but the drones are 1000000x more effective.

Denver won the SB with defense not long ago. NE held the Rams to 3 points in the SB, while NE/Philly had like 1100 total yards. The Bears had 3 points til like 1 min left today.....with the same exact QB in Foles. You can still play defense, but it aint easy. Nobody like Aaron Rodgers, Mahomes, or Lamar Jackson when I was a kid. Marino was the first one to put up Star Wars numbers, but overall I still think you have to win in the trenches to take it all. KC wouldn't have won the SB with the 2020 Giants O-line or 2020 Dallas defense

I think your point was made tonite. I put a little on Under 41.5 live and it looked easy at 14-11 with like 8 min left. A Philly bomb, a pick 6, and a prevent defense TD later and it went over somehow. Its difficult as hell to hit NFL unders. Thats why I rarely play them. I looked at shitty QB play, but Mullen for SF was too shitty. Fumbled away and gave them good field position and then threw a pick-6

what do you think about the Colts vs the hot Browns offense with the Colts D playing great but offense sputtering to field goals with WR's once again down to Hilton and Pascal?

                              frustrating

I found it odd SF got away from running the ball. The play before the fumble the WR should have caught a 1st down. Still, SF had control and let that win slip away. Better D and running game and they lose. Shanahan sometimes loses sight of the big picture.
