Ryan Newman's injuries are not life threatening

Newman was taken to Halifax Medical Center for treatment. Shortly after 10 p.m., Roush Fenway Racing, Newman's team, said he was in "serious condition."
"But doctors have indicated his injuries are not life threatening," the team said in a statement. "We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and ask that you respect the privacy of Ryan and his family during this time. We appreciate your patience and cooperation and we will provide more information as it becomes available."

The 42-year-old’s Ford Mustang was left a mangled wreck after it was nudged up against a wall as it approached the finish line. Travelling at close to 200mph the car flipped, before it was struck by the another vehicle prompting it to cartwheel into the air again. Medics arrived immediately on the the scene and managed to cut the driver free. He was taken to hospital but was reported to have avoided life threatening injuries.
