I disagree. It's calming down now but this is gonna be the first time the Lakers have a contending team since Kobe, there's no way interviewers, commentators, etc. aren't gonna find any excuse to bring him up when the playoffs come around. It will be planted in the players' heads for sure, and that's assuming Lebron doesn't make some statement himself about winning it for Kobe, which I wouldn't be surprised if he did

Yeah, my initial snap thought was every team wants to win it, but seen it before there is a snug place for this kind of sentimentality in the NBA. Like when James got the Cavs a ring. No way it should have happened, but what would it do to the NBA if the best player at the time couldn't deliver his team a championship? It would be anti-climatic at best! NBA is king on sentimentality.

Still prefer the Clippers but injuries can tip the scales just enough.
