Nothing ever good happens in the first decade of a century because it's too hard to refer to... "the roaring teens" just sounds bad. Memories start in the 20s because every decade thereafter is easy to refer to "20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, etc."

How do you even recall these years? The teens? The tens? I think people will just say "early 2000s" which will include 2000-2019 until we can finally say "the 20s".
