    Avoid The Hometown Bias At Your Local Book
    The Horseshoe in Hammond Indiana opened their sports book today. It's the closest casino with a sports book you can drive to if you live in Chicago (about a 20 minute drive from downtown) until Illinois casinos get their books up and running. WGN did a piece on the opening of the book and showed a couple shots of the odds boards. They had the Bears winning the Super Bowl at 9/1 (1:06 mark in the video). Just checked 5Dimes for the hell of it and they got 20/1.

    Moral of the story: If you're gonna bet at a local book, bet anything but the local team or be prepared to be juiced to hell.

                  It definitely seems like they are exposed big on the Chicago teams. I was with a gal from Iowa whose brother wanted her to place the Bears future bet. I told her just give me the 50 and I'll get him double odds offshore.
