How Does Louisville Even Keep This Game Close Tonight? Notre Dame in a Blowout!
I mean normally laying 18 points on the road against a "name" school in week one of the college football season is a recipe for disaster, but this Cardinal team was a raging dumpster fire last year and I don't think they can pull a 180 in such a short amount of time.

Louisville was 108th in total offense last year and 122nd in total defense. Just look at their scores from last year, this team was BAD. Of their 10 losses, all but ONE of them were by 18 or more points, which happens to be the spread tonight. Now factor in the growing pains of a brand new head coach and you basically get a Notre Dame or nothing kinda scenario, unless you're just the contrarian type.

I won't say too much about Notre Dame. They did suffer some losses on the defensive side of the ball, but nothing that should be exposed in this game. Their offense returns 4/5 of the offensive line and the new starter at center is a sophomore they're really high on. Ian Book is back under center and the skill positions are solid across the board.

This is why I don't understand the Louisville money coming in. Unless this new hire has them on the right track.

Exactly. The line has dropped from -20 1/2 to -18 in some shops in Vegas. Is it a lot of support for a team that went 2-10 last season or is it just a case of people distrusting Kelly and QB Book? Either way, this is a pass for me.

Well the opening line was 19.5

It did see an uptick followed by a drop, but I imagine it'll close around 20 at least

If that happens then some big boys were manipulating the number to where they could hammer -18.

Louisville does return most of their starters on the defensive side of the ball so one would think they be improved in that aspect of the game based solely on experience alone...and head coach Scott Satterfield has a proven track record...he was 51 - 24 at Appalachain St from 2013 - 2018 with an undefeated bowl record (3 - 0)

Louisville was horrific but Petrino basically mailed it in so safe to say the players didn't care much either.

I don't know too much about Satterfield but given the job he did at Appalachian St, turning them into a mid-major powerhouse, I have to believe he has Louisville on the right track here.

Still, just how much progress he's made turning around that dumpster fire is anyone's guess. If I had to bet it, I'd side with you and ND but I passed on it altogether.
