They do have a fukkload of blown saves but shit, they have spent a fortune on starting pitching, invested all kinds of resources into the lineup, someplace has to suffer. They flat out said this offseason they weren’t spending anymore, seems fair to me, I’m sure Epstein feels he has given him more than enough to win. As long as their aging starting pitchers hold up he prob has.

For an otherwise good team, bullpen is an area that can fairly easily be addressed before the trade deadline. I fully expect the Cubs will be very aggressive in adding to the bullpen over the next couple months.

As a Cubs fan I have to agree with this. So many times he’s made a move as a manager that has just left me completely puzzled. Sometimes it works, and we did win a World Series so it’s hard for me to be completely against him. I like the way he appears to run the clubhouse and his personality could be a lot worse for a baseball manager. Still, I would much rather him make decisions differently.
