Tibs is a good defensive minded coach.. I'm sure another team will pick him up soon.

                Players win

Minny does not have the players to win yet

                Center real dominant though

When Tom Coughlin in 2004 replaced Jim Fassel as the NY Giants head coach Coughlin had a reputation as a hard ass, no sense of humor, no personality not a players coach by any means. And he wasn't really a players coach.

The veteran players did not like that at all, and they made their displeasure known to the press, front office, etc.
Long story short Coughlin listened, lightened up, tweaked his personality, became more of a players coach at the same time cracked the whip when he had too.

The players noticed the change in attitude, played hard for him, as Coughlin had a successful 12 year run, winning 2 Super Bowls.

I guess Tibs never got the message.

After reaching out to Tyronn Lue when the former Cavaliers head coach was let go earlier this season, Doc Rivers didn’t waste any time doing the same with Tom Thibodeau once Thibs was dismissed by the Timberwolves on Sunday. According to Andrew Greif of The Los Angeles Times, it’s not yet clear how involved Thibodeau might be with the Clippers, but it sounds like he’ll at least share some thoughts with Rivers over the course of the season.

“Tom will be around,” Rivers said on Monday. “Tom’s around even when he’s not. He watches every NBA game, so the one thing with Tom is he’s going to be working at home even without the job, that’s what he does. And he’s another guy who loves the game of basketball. And for me, I love people who love the game.”

Like Lue, Thibodeau was an assistant on Rivers’ staff in Boston years ago, so it makes sense that the Clippers’ coach would reach out to him. Lue’s role with the Clips is an informal one, and it sounds like the club might go that same route with Thibodeau.

After Tom Thibodeau became the fourth NBA coach in the last two years to lose his dual title of head coach and president of basketball operations, Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports writes that the trend has run its course. While that may be the case for now, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst believes it’s just a matter of time until we see another franchise try it. Windhorst suggests that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra will be a candidate to assume some or all of Pat Riley‘s personnel control when Riley eventually retires.

Thibodeau will probably have to be successful as an assistant again before he gets another head coaching job, states Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated. He cites Thibodeau’s strained relationship with the front offices in both Minnesota and Chicago as reasons that other teams will be reluctant to give him much power right away.

No chance. He's had his chances. Better coaches have had fewer cracks of the whip than him. He's seen as old hat now, and rightfully so.
