Will grind the game to a hault. Every failed 3rd dow contested by O; every converted 3rd down contested by D.

Only way this works is to unwind current pass friendly scheme and do away with replay all together. NFL of 1984 again. It'd work too and games would be better, teams more equal (won't need 1 of 8 QBs in the world to get to SB)

The NFL will consider adding a "sky judge" to each officiating crew, beginning next season, tasked with using instant replay to correct any egregious errors made by the on-field officials, a top league official said Friday.

Troy Vincent, the league's executive vice president of football operations, said at the NFL scouting combine that the idea of such a video official being added to each officiating crew emerged as a top consideration among the ideas discussed this week by the rulemaking competition committee in deliberations with coaches, general managers, officials and players.

"We just want to get it right," Vincent said. "We're debating what that change is, if any. As we always say, the membership [owners] will tell us what they want to do. The league doesn't get a vote."

Any such change to expand the use of instant replay as an officiating tool would have to be ratified by at least 24 of the 32 teams. The change, if approved, would take effect next season. The owners are scheduled to meet in late March in Phoenix at the annual league meeting.

"That's the feel I get: Some kind of adjustment is there," Vincent said. "What it is, I'm not certain."

Vincent said Friday there have been seven different rule-change proposals submitted by individual NFL teams related to the use of replay in officiating. Some of those, he said, would expand the scope of plays reviewable by replay to include illegal hits and perhaps other personal fouls. One proposal, according to Vincent, would make all penalties, including those called and those not called, subject to replay review under the coaches' challenge system. That proposal has been made in the past by New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick.

The video official might be given a limited scope of calls, perhaps including pass interference and personal fouls, to review. Such reviews could take place over an entire game or, alternatively, possibly only at certain points in a game, such as the final two minutes of each half of maybe the last five minutes of the fourth quarter.

They should get fined for all blown calls and suspended after a certain number. If you don't have accountability, nothing ever changes.

That back judge should lose his job immediately.

I even think the side judge quickly came in... and tried to overrule him... and the back judge confirmed it twice. Unreal.

Everything should be reviewable by an independent 3rd party.

Lol! The pre-game briefing they get from NFL tells what they should do. Leauge fixes the game, at least, the point spread. Now, MLB will share their advanced game metrics with MGM casino as we speak. Vegas has all the insider info.

    NFL referees are just terrible.
