To marry his partner, becomes first NFL player ever to wed a man.

It's news, but I guess my question is....why?

We are years, if not decades beyond this being considered absurd, and frankly I'm not sure how it hasn't occurred yet already.

Individuals personal animosities can never be erased. There will always be racism and sexism, etc... but with the election of Obama yes, broad societal racism ended. At that point a majority of Americans chose a black man over a white man twice and neither time was he the more qualified or credentialed option.

Gay rights have evolved as well, it's been a decade of gay marriage at a federal level, several decades at many state levels and nearly 50 years since Stonewall. So yes, great for him and I was just stirring discussion about why this is news since he is simply a private citizen at this point hardly a public figure.
