#37If a black is in a high position job you better believe he's the cream of the crop where as a white person doing the same job can be below average. For example, Obama had to be clean as whistle to be able to run for the highest poltical office in the United States. If Trump was black, does he become President with allegations of sexual assault, bribery and tax fraud hanging over his head. We all know the answer to this. Being white gives you cover to below average.Comment -

Guy got a free pass from media compared to any politician and certainly by comparison to current court nominee.
I'd also reference Ellison (black DNC leader and MN AG nominee) who is also getting a free pass
Tomlin has a great record, and his offense has been historical, but he was a defensive hire and his defense has been terrible for 2 plus years. The rah rah motivates but cant overcome his deficiency in his area of expertise.
It's just time for a change...it really is. What they have is in dire need of a new direction and rebuild.
Tomlin will catch on elsewhere, if he can come up w a new defensive scheme.
Cowher at least maintained solid D, consistent wins year after year, despite working w Brister, Odonell, Maddux, Stewart, Miller at QB in a much tougher afc north/ central till he turned over Ben and a SB team to Tomlin in a declining division.Comment -

#40Race is irrelevant to most jobs. Tomlin has just overstayed his welcome in Pitt. His message hasn’t been getting across for the past handful of seasons. A change of scenery wouldn’t be the worst thing for him. It wouldn’t necessarily make Steelers better or worse without shuffling personnel. They still have too many below average players on defense.
Carroll, McCarthy, Harbaugh(unless he wins sb) are in the same boat imo. All need a divorce from their current teams.Comment -

#42Largely true, but consider the QBs Cowher had until Ben came near the end of his career: Neil O'Donnell, Mike Tomczak, Kordell Stewart, Kent Graham, Tommy Maddox. You think that has something to do with not bringing home a championship?Comment -

When you lose conference championship games at home to a mediocre Chargers team you were favored by 9 and the qb was Stan Humphrey
when you lose another conference championship team to Denver you hosted at home
and the only home conference championship game game you won was to a Colts team you were favored by double digits over and it wasnt until the last play of the game that it was decided. The qb for the Colts was Jim Harbaugh
Also Cowher's lone super bowl was won with Big Ben as a rookie? and not playing that well. it was also given to them by the officials as the head official pretty much admitted to years later.
Back then you had a better chance of getting by without a star qb. Much more so than today anyway.
But your point is a valid one. It's easier to win with a good qb.Comment -
