Sports betting soars to $95M in New Jersey in August
Greatest Move NJ did was contract out a lot of the lines to European firms and now offer 20x more than Vegas and 24 hrs a day live betting unlike Vegas

NJ will pass Vegas eventually as the new leader

    Smart move

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Sports betting is a second-inning home run in New Jersey, where gamblers plunked down more than $95 million on sporting events in August, helping Atlantic City's casinos to one of their biggest monthly revenue increases in three decades.
The $95.6 million wagered on sports in August was more than twice as much as the amount bet in July as New Jersey's sports betting market is soaring.
Nearly $74 million was wagered at on-site betting windows, and $21.7 million was bet on sports via online or mobile phone apps, a market segment that is expected to become the dominant player in the industry as more and more companies gain approval from New Jersey regulators to offer online sports betting.
The surge comes as more companies race to join the burgeoning market, which became possible when New Jersey won a U.S. Supreme Court case in May clearing the way for all 50 states to offer sports betting should they so choose.
The numbers, released Wednesday, helped boost Atlantic City casino revenue to nearly $304 million, an increase of more than 24 percent from a year ago.
"With the new casinos that opened in June and the addition of sports wagering options, including online alternatives, the gaming industry has experienced growth rates in July and August that have not been achieved in years," said David Rebuck, director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. "It is an exciting time for Atlantic City and we look forward to continued revenue growth going forward."

The Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, just outside New York City, led the market with just over $3 million in sports betting revenue in August; Resorts Digital was close behind at $2.97 million. Monmouth Park racetrack in Oceanport won just under $900,000; the Borgata casino won just over $855,000; Ocean Resort Casino won nearly $520,000; Harrah's won nearly $300,000; Bally's won nearly $270,000; Golden Nugget won over $215,000, and Resorts casino won just over $98,000.
So far this year, those outlets have won $16.4 million on sports bets. Part of the money they have taken in as bets involves games that have not yet been played, including baseball's World Series and football's Super Bowl. That money will be accounted for after those events are decided.
The companies retained about 5 percent of the amount bet on completed events.
Internet gambling had another good month, as usual, with $24.8 million won online, an increase of nearly 17 percent from a year ago

Coach I’m heading down today at 3 to meet up w some friends from ACCC for drinks. I’ll pick you up at the Farley rest stop

NJ will kill it online apps and web

Some books already online offering live betting from stuff all over the world even darts

          bizarre

It will help offshore because with new companies in the game offshore will have to stay on their toes more and offer great products and fast payouts with low fees

Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse in AC is the best steakhouse I've ever been to. Without question. A second and third trip there confirmed it for me. Other than that, not a fan of AC, but I have to put that out there.

I’d rethink that. The real estate market on the north beach part of AC is ripe for the picking. Some big projects going on.

I like AC just as much as Vegas

Been to AC twice, plan to go back soon & often
Been to Vegas 5x, plan to go back for WSOP

FYI, my flight to AC is 1 hour, vs. 5 hours to Vegas. AC also way cheaper, not as hot, and has the beach.

I'd say the majority of it.

But new bettors eventually become experienced & start shopping around.

I am just impressed how fast NJ moved on this and passed Vegas in bet offers and internet wagering

I think NJ is unique though, most states are not going to end up with 10 shops like NJ will have

NJ will take a little away from offshore but like I always said offshore has a pool of 800 million people across the globe with no regs so they will be fine

                          Good options for all

Absolutely some will once they find -105 and big bonuses they can't find in the states.

                                    Or via word of mouth.

I'm in Florida so just like some states not sure when or if ever we'll see legal sports betting here.

But even if we do i will play at both.

NJ isnt going to kill anything Gold .
These pop up sites require GPS that you're in NJ to even be able bet it on the site . So that will not sway anyone from leaving the major offshore or going to Vegas .
Essentially might as well just go to Vegas or the Jersey Casinos and bet it with the sites requiring you must prove you're in Jersey by GPS .
I tried on the site uscphilly posted yesterday , you can login , see lines , , you can even deposit money but you won't get a bet in until it sees you're in Jersey by GPS verification.
Luckily I read the fine print before depositing

Entirely predictable. Vegas did not want NJ betting, they only reluctantly have provided apps and they do not know how to do online sports betting and will try to avoid it for as long as possible which will be to the point that they have lost significant market share to newcomers which they will never get back and may ultimately abandon the space entirely because it is not profitable enough.

I'm in Florida so just like some states not sure when or if ever we'll see legal sports betting here.

But even if we do i will play at both.

From the house perspective it should be much more money to be made from tables than a sportsbook.
