Vegas Oddsmakers Friggin' Nail The NBA All Star Game
Vegas oddsmakers may be warlocks. They are always good, damn good. But in what amounts to basically a pick up game full of the NBA's best, they set the line at Lebron's team -2.5.

    Final score, Lebron's team -3.

    Uncanny!

Should give them credit on the total also? Because they were way off

You guys do understand that setting a line that will be close to actual is not at all the goal of the linesmaker??? Do you know this?

The goal is to set a line that will divide sharp action.... then let the squares bet the wrong side. More often than not the actual results are 10+ points away from the line... and that is just great

The side is always a crapshoot. The much better play was the total. With the format change guys showed some pride and played some dee. Game went under by 40-50 points depending on when you got it. Much easier to handicap than the side. Most relaxing play all day!

The side never budged but the total moved down 2 points.
                      Limited market anyway.

Auctually the goal is to get even money on both side- oddsmaker don’t want a lobsided bet on 1 team !!

It seems like we get these rookie threads every couple of months.

I've explained these topics in depth so many times my fingers bleed.

Yet a new crop of ignorance always springs up along side those seasoned bettors with egos who refuse to learn.

This is one of the reasons winning bettors continue to win, they have muddled beyond the myth and fiction, and deal with gambling facts.

Really? I looked at the line yesterday and thought to myself: it's a pick up game. How can they possibly set a good line? With that in mind I figured that it's nothing but a guess so I might as well play the dog or the dog on the ML. Then the coffee kicked in and I realized betting on the All-Star game is a fool's errand. So I passed.

Didn't even watch it, but when I saw the final score and realized they had it down to to a half point---I could only SMH and tip my hat to 'em.

"They" didnt have anything down to anything. Youre right its pretty much a guess. No way to know, they are teams where the players are mixed up, there is no rating for such so they throw out a field goal line. Just because it ended up close means nothing. Total way off as someone said. If "they" are so good why is that and Im sure if you look back at other all star game spreads you can find many where it ended up being way off the number and no doubt some close also, just luck.

they were way off on the total though. As soon as the game started, you could tell that they weren't just going to let each other score with ease. I threw 400 on the live under for the 1st half and then parlayed that on the live game under at 315.5.
