Of course the team wants him to play, HE wants to play! The problem is with an orbital fracture, if it isn't healed properly and he takes an elbow to the face, then it could potentially cost him his eyesight for life. Or at the very least, done for the playoffs. And you know that every time he steps on the floor the Heat will put Whiteside in there and elbows will be flying on every rebound. Sure it's easy to say, "Oh he's wearing a mask. He'll be fine." And he might be. Or he might get whacked and a $100M franchise player goes down with a career ending injury.
Bottom line is this is a VERY tough call. The risk is very real but so is the reward. If he does play in this series his minutes will be limited. I say he gives it a go in Game 4 or 5.Comment -
