Left Wisconsin, for this crap.
Hard to feel sorry for him, though. Especially with Wisconsin undefeated.
Realistically, somewhere that's not corrupt. MAC not a bad answer. Mountain West.
He left the B1G because of Urban Meyer.
Goes to the conference with Nick Saban, which was worse
ACC is crooked, can't go there
IDK, Big 12-is that still legit, or is that crooked as well?

He could reboot a program like the Mean Green or UConn that has had moderate success in the past 10 years, then wind up back in the spotlight

North Texas is already back, with a great coach.
I'm really starting to think AD Barry Alvarez was the real star at Wisconsin, and any coach there is going to end up being better than they actually are. I mean, Paul Chryst was an above average coach, but he was never THIS good.
Bielema is fool's gold, no matter where he goes.

No team with 5 losses is "back." Their "great" HC is 14-13 S/U. Ralphie, lay off the dramatics. Stupid statement. As far as Wisconsin goes, they lose 7 starters on defense this season, so their offense is going to have to improve, and that means throwing the ball more than they do now. That means better QB play. As usual, they ply a complete and total cream puff non-con schedule which should DQ them from any type of playoff consideration, but games at Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern and Penn State will take care of that.

i agree........... "name" coaches get better recruits at more obscure schools. delegate tons of duties related to actual football play if he must... i think co-HC's - maybe not by title - makes ton of sense. old, name coach for recruiting, alumni, university relations. younger energetic coach for actual football duties.

Illinois is hiring former Wisconsin and Arkansas coach Bret Bielema to lead its football program, the school announced Saturday.
Bielema, 50, has spent the past three seasons as an NFL assistant, working this year for the New York Giants after two years with the New England Patriots. He had expressed interest in returning to the college level and was a candidate for openings last year at both Michigan State and Colorado, and earlier in this cycle at Southern Miss, according to sources.
Bielema will receive a six-year contract with Illinois with a starting salary of $4.2 million.
Illinois, which fired coach Lovie Smith last Sunday, also considered Buffalo coach Lance Leipold, Oklahoma defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard, among others, to replace Smith, who went 17-39 in five seasons at the school.
"Illinois and the Big Ten is home for me, and I can't be any more excited about the opportunity in front of me with the Fighting Illini," Bielema said in a prepared statement. "We want to build a program that makes Illini Nation proud and regain the passion that I've seen when Illinois wins."
