The Detroit Tigers aren’t talking about what transpired between veterans Justin Verlander and Victor Martinez in the dugout today in the midst of a wild 10-6 win over the Yankees that saw a combined eight players ejected.

"I was actually on the field, so I haven't seen it, I haven't talked to them about it," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said when asked about Verlander/Martinez incident. "I'm aware of it, but I couldn't tell you what it was about."

Asked if it bothered him that teammates would get into a disagreement, he said: "No, again, emotions are running high. They're running high on both sides."

Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez threw a punch at Nick Castellanos during the skirmish. Castellanos said he was just trying to separate Cabrera and Romine when he got hit.
Castellanos appeared to be explaining what happened to him to Martinez.

Verlander and Castellanos seemed upset with Martinez, who was chummy with Sanchez in the aftermath of the incident.

Verlander appeared to wave his hand away as Martinez was talking. Verlander then walked away and Martinez had to held back and by Castellanos.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi still hadn't calmed down a few minutes after the final out of a 10-6 loss to the Detroit Tigers that will filled with pitchers hitting batters on purpose, ejections and bench-clearing brawls.

Everything about the ugliness of this afternoon had Girardi fuming. You could see it in his face and hear it in his voice during a six-minute post-game interview that pretty much was an umpire trashing from start to finish.

"Just a very poor job on their part ... very, very poor," Girardi said.

When Kahnle was immediately thrown out, Girardi argued his way to an ejection.

"No warning (after Sanchez was hit) ... so then Kahnle throws one inside to Cabrera [who] doesn't get hit but you throw [Kahnle] out of the game," Girardi said. "So now they're judging intent. If you can't see that Fulmer clearly hit Sanchez on purpose, there's something wrong. I think it really could have really been avoidable.

Sanchez running in and punching someone in the ground was an all time cowardly act. Betances beaning someoneelse was also gutless. Watching the Yankees fail against winning teams in the very near future and missing the playoffs is going to be so enjoyable.
