This is totally ridiculous. I uploaded all my Punta Cana pics to Flickr. They're all there. Wanted to throw a few into a thread here...

But when I click on the Insert Image icon and paste the URL of a pic, it just keeps putting the tiny box bullshit thing and won't show the pic!

I think if you host the album and it's public you can just post the url for one pic and people can click through to the entire album. Other than that you need to post the url to each individual pic. The url needs to have a jpg or png in it to work.

Capy the effort is admirable but anytime you post nudes SBR will give you that tiny box. Only Donk has found a way to circumvent this.

Yeah I could post the link to the whole album, but wasn't going to bother with that, there are too many meh photos... just was going to throw in like a dozen of the good ones one at a time into a thread. They ARE jpg's, but when I put the URL I get the stupid tiny box thing and no photo. F'n ridiculous. Are the files too large or something? I mean WTF, they're just regular photos.

Capy use the https://postimage.io/, as Jaker suggested, to upload your images on this site - that's the fastest and easiest way.

But to answer your question on why, the same image comes up differently on various sites:

Every time you take a photo on your phone or digital camera, the device adds a small piece of data to the file called EXIF, specifying which orientation the image should be in. This information includes, but not limited to, the model of camera you took the pic with, horizontal or vertical orientation, and sometimes even the GPS location where the photo was taken. In theory, then, you could open that photo with an application, it would look at the EXIF tags, and then present the photo in the correct rotation to you. The image data is saved in its original, unrotated form, but the EXIF tag allows applications to correct it.


Unfortunately, not every piece of software (especially the older ones) obeys this EXIF tag. Some programs and sites, like SBR, will just load the image and ignore the EXIF Orientation tag, displaying the image in its original, unrotated state. Newer programs that obey EXIF tags will show the image with its correct rotation, so an image may appear to have different rotations in different applications.

Non-EXIF compatible applications display the image as it was originally created. EXIF-compatible applications use an Orientation tag to determine whether the image needs to be rotated before it is displayed. The image is rotated and displayed in RAM rather than in the file itself, so no change to the original file data is made.
