Here are the comparison stats.
I consider Harden considerably better than RWB. For offense, Harden shoots TS% 61.4%. RWB is 53.9% and is on track to take the 8th most shots in history. (Context: Down Year Curry shoots better than either one at TS 63.1%., KD is at 65.0%)
So I don’t accept any argument for RWB based on his scoring.
Now RWB crashes the boards by design for OKC, while Curry and Harden don’t. OKC also helps RWB pad his rebound stats, though one can argue that’s to trigger the fast break.
Now for raw production, RWB and JH are exceeding Curry. But they also are system players that REQUIRE the ball in their hands, so I ding them for that. In fact, viewed darkly, RWB’s ball dominance and inflexibility drove KD out of town.
So in the end, I certainly think Curry is a better player than either, and have zero issue with him as a starter. Even ESPN RPM, which overrates the box scores, thinks Bad Curry is the #9 player in the league. I would understand arguments that Harden is having a better season.
I can understand arguments that both JH and RWB carry their team more, but personally discount that since they both PREVENT better offenses from being installed and that hobbles OKC. The jury is still out whether it’s hobbling HOU, since they’ve looked dynamite in the regular season.
^^saw this on another site. add to this that GMs in the NBA would take curry overwhelmingly over westbrook. if you think that's debatable you're smoking something. on top of this, the all-star game is a popularity contest. they're not voting for first team all nba or MVP. it's not that big of a slight to westbrook, if any at all.Comment -
