Every board I have ever been on pines for the good old days. The posters were better, the books were better, the gambling was oh so sweet...Guess what...It wasn't that good. Your brain is playing tricks on you.

The only thing I think that is actually different is sbr more strict these days on content in threads. Back in the day there was some crazy shit and epic threads that would not be allowed to continue as long as they did back then. JJ isn't as wild as he used to be, which is sad because some of those videos were so funny. I would say the betpoints change was a good move though. Sure we lost some flavor from the past but shit I still love the place. Still plenty of good dudes around here. Nothing stays the same, you just have to adapt to the change I guess.

SBR used to be great for a variety of reasons, those are all gone now. Its still worth it to cash points in A gift cards but thats so limited

There is nothing wrong with pointing out a place has gone downhill and if you dont think it has, then you likey weren't capitalizing on it.

More than anything, I was curious what others though started the downhill slide, BI/lawsuits/selling opportunities etc... or something else

What cant be debated is something happened that took Loshaque, lou and John and practically Dozer out of the mix. Shari is a rarity these days as well.

This was also around the time Dax got a job in CR, he was probably part of the problem

Im not even talking about quality of posts, or posters

The store had so many better options including sportsbook cash

That alone made this place much better

As far as posters, its impossible to say the guys that left sidn't leave a oid yet to be filled. Many life long and pro gamblers that had been doing this their entire lives, the discussion in the TT used to be lively and stellar

Having Ganch around to pick his brain was incredible, especially given the different positions he held at books over the years

I'm giving you a bit of a hard time Kraken but I do see this as a common theme in a lot of boards. Message boards in general are kind of archaic. Most of the kids are on Snapchat and Twitter and don't care for the format of a board.

Absolutely, its common in life in general. Every generation thinks the generations after them are ferries and lazy. Just listen to older people talk about how younger generation have it so easy, how they walked uphill both ways in the snow just to pick up their moms cigarettes from 7-11 or the full service Sinclairs

And then it happens on msg boards as well

Im trying to be a bit more objective because honestly, the options we used to have to exchange for points were actually really good, now we have one real option.

The rest is just observation that around the time BI went down is when everything changed.

I do miss the target cards. I used to pay for Christmas off sbr. Yes ,i'm a cheap bastard. Used to have vanilla cards. But as my father always said "Never look a gift horse in the mouth." Which means it is definitely better than the alternative. But poster used to be funnier. Who was the brother that got bit by his red neck neighbors dog. He used to never heard of you pal. I think Dirty is the only one that uses it. Was his name Big bear?

These "remember when" threads always remind me of those old guys that would come back to high school and talk about how much better the parties, sports, girls, etc were back in their day.

Nobody likes those guys.

Lastly, sbr went through a few lawsuits and Im sure some changes came about from those

Needless to say, sbr isnt what it used to be, it is nowhere near as good. SBR is still a good forum, but many of the opportunities that used to be available aren't any longer.

And it's too bad, this was a unique place

What was the catalyst for change??? It was Obama's fault.

Now that Trump will be officially in office on Friday. Walker will make the changes needed in the right direction.

i feel ya on not being a BI thread, i think the political climate (on both sides) severely affected the site CONTENT wise, although it probably generated TONS of traffic. just hurt the normal day to day betting threads
