It's like a crack back block or hitting the QB on an INT just because. They fazed all of that out of football. Too many injuries.

They must have called out the wrong number because the guy they said the penalty was on made a clean block on a guy that was clearly engaged and not a crack back block.

His legs were being held down by another defender....how much more defenseless can you be.

He wasn't in the act of catching the ball, he was an established runner. RB's get hit in the head all the time. After you are not deemed "defenseless" it has to be a spear basically...targeting with the crown of the defender's helmet as Fowler just explained.

As a defender, you are taught to tie up a player so the backers can come finish them off or try to strip the ball. This is big boy, Bama defense. Clemson ain't ready.

It was a bad replay. It happened off screen, you could catch a glimpse of it as the camera was following the action. Looked to be 15 yds away from the action at least. Had no affect on the play. It was a hard play, but stupid on the Clemson player's fault. I think you should have your head on a swivel at all times, but you have to play under the rules you are given.
