Had a friend tell me that a bettor's unit size should typically be right around what they make per hour at their job. I thought this was a decent concept providing the person has other areas of their life under control.
Interesting theory

#3Sound about right. If I kept my betting size at around $20 Dollars I'd be good. I give my mom all my money anyways so not really applicable here. Welcome to the forumComment -

#4Disagree. For me my unit is 8x my hourly wage. 1 unit should equal 1 days' work!Comment -

#11Sounds like a good rule for a recreational bettor that does not wager regularly.
But if you want to grow your bankroll you must move your unit size up as your roll growsComment -

The people that lose do not keep track at all - barely keep records - brutal truth is they don't want to know how much they have lost.Comment -

#19But, we did not discuss the number of bets - your guy is about 25 bucks an hour and could put 1500 away - and play for fun - 25 a bet? But, if he bets on 20 events on Saturday - he could easily lose 250 on that day. So, I do agree with you that 1 hour of wages for 1 bet sounds reasonable. We don't know the risk tolerance of the individual or aversion as the case may be.Comment
