I hate posting after the game like this, you know I don't do it often, but why so much risk on this particular Monday night? You had to see it coming a little bit.
You're a great capper, try not to let the markets suck you in with bigger bets. It's something that happens to all of us, it's part of the game.
Good work in the Nail it pound it plays, I'll stop by that thread later.

#144I'm not pro
I have failed to see the wisdom of handing over $100 (don't give me the charity BS) other than pure peer pressure. Also I think there are some on the forum that benefit by making these pushes to get people to hand over their $100
That is my reasoning until I am convinced otherwise.Comment -

#148The contests that have cash and betpoint prizes are worth it alone. I like how posters that tell us they are gambling hundreds or thousands a day are worried about sending a $100 to benefit, not only themselves, but the site they spend 75% of their day on. Yet they will send thousands of dollars overseas to someone they don't even know to gamble only because SBR, the site that isn't worth the $100 donation, made sure to help them pick a trustworthy bookComment -

#149Contests are fun, you can make picks in a couple minutes or less, it's just the rush of making picks, no real gambler cares about winning $50 on beat the prick bro. I promise you that. Anyone that takes that really seriously means 1) gambling is their job and they need every penny from SBR contests/tournaments to feed their family 2) they are a small time gambler with not much money and they're looking to build their roll.

#150That's the thing though jibby, for most the argument to not going pro is the whole "I am just here to talk sports and I don't care about betpoints", but you can go to any contest on sbr whether it's weekly or a big contest such as BTP and you will find more non pros than prosfigure that one out
Oh and I'm sure they all want to become SBR PRO but they simply can't afford it or don't want to put up the benny to do so.. Would rather lay the $100 on a play instead.. I understand..
I was a non pro for a while years back but I always thought you had to be a pro gambler to claim the PRO status and join up. I finally considered myself a pro sports gambler and signed up since this is my daily job now.... Silly I know, now looking back...Comment -

#151Can someone enlighten me then on the benefits of going pro? I haven't participated in any contest ever and wouldn't plan on it if I did go pro.
I come on here for much the same reason as goat milk described. Talk sports or find amusement during the work day. At the end of the day I place my bets and that's it.
What would someone with thosepractices gain by becoming pro? The aggressive and sometimes downright belligerence of pros telling non pros they're worthless or what not is bordering on insanity. I can't be a pro for reasons I don't wish to go into detail because I have several times already. I use a local here in CR. Call me a broke dick all you want I don't care. Most people that call others broke fukks are probably the most most fukks on the forum I venture to guess. I don't care and neither should anyone else.

Btp alone is worth being pro for. Between points you can pick up and cash payouts it's worth it if you are even a semi-decent gambler. I've said this before: if you can't make $100 of value on the betpoints that sbr gives you as a pro, then you would lose that $100 at the books for sure and this way the money goes to charity and not a book. Win win!!
To me - it's silly not to be pro only because it's so obviously +roiComment -

#158Before this Pro status a few years back, Newguy above ran charities that I contributed all my points to for the week
that SBR sponsored. I had no use for the points until SBR changed the rules. I hurried up and bought a hat and coffee
mug before the change.
Back then to be a Pro, you had to join one of their books. I already had a book. By then the US made it hard to
join a foreign book. I tried. Also, if you join a sponsored book, 35% of your losses go to the sponsor. (SBR)
No big deal, I just liked my book.
As a non pro wanting to go Pro, you are allowed to keep 3,000 points. I would have to go to the casino or
SBR sports book to lose 5,000 points. Every time I do, I win more.
Initial donation of $100 gets you Pro, but after that you can go Pro with 3,000 points. From what I understand.Comment -

In the SBR Store a $100 GC to Amazon is 3350 points so you get your hundred back plus a few pizza GC's if you do nothing but just log in, collect your points, and redeem them. BTP rewards both points and cash prizes as well as other contests you can participate in.
I rarely even gamble points...I roll over free plays from BTP and poker and come out way ahead. Plus you're giving to charity and if you enjoy the site it's a +EV way to support SBR. And you get a cokk like a coke can and get to call people broke dikks in ebattles.Comment -

#161I was going to make a funny post, but here is the thread on PRO benefits. This is for Americans - Basically you get 12 points a day as a PRO plus another 100 on your birthday or Christmas or something like that. It adds up to about 4500 points per year for doing nothing.

#164I appreciate the input, KVB...but believe me, I've seen with my own eyes the Packers get absolutely obliterated by my Redskins...their defense is absolutely atrocious and not to mention they are injury riddled...and the Eagles have been crushing opponents at home by at least double digits...and I'd thought they would be in borderline desperation mode after that Seattle loss and just to keep pace with the rest of the NFC East...I mean seriously we could put together a football team composed of SBR members and we'd hang 35+ on that Packers defense!...

#167You wanna donate money? You want to help the community? Go out in the community and go to a shelter, go clean up the roads, go donate money to a struggling mom trying to raise 4 kids by herself and work 2 jobs. Your 100 dollars you donate to a charity -- you have no clue what happens to that 100. Employees that work for non profit places still need resources to get around and do the good work they do. Your 100 might be used for that for all you know. You don't see the real benefit. If you go out there in the real world and put your time and/or money into something real, something you can see, I promise you, you will be making a real difference.

#168I don't play poker at all. And I'm typically too lazy to even get into the contests...and I'm about to cash in close to 20k in points on GC. That's simply from logging in and winning a few bets here & there. Not a bad return for doing the same thing I do everyday anyways.
This guy has real life fulfillment.

I bought a porch set and a very decent electric guitar with gift cards, have sold some for cash that was spent on whatever.
I'd say that's well worth or the professional term which SB used "+EV". At least a 400% ROI.Last edited by stevek173; 11-29-16, 06:13 PM.Comment -
