    Sportsbooks calling without permission
Has anyone had sportbooks or betting services call without giving them consent? I've been wagering for ten years and have never had anyone call except around the time I joined betcris which was about 15 months ago. Recently I get a couple of calls a week and I can't receive calls most of the time due to my job. Is there anyway to find out who gave my number away? I asked Betcris and they denied it, but I'm 99% sure it's them because they are by far the dumbest people I've ever dealt with. I told this jackass named Jesse not to call my number for any reason on five occasions. On another occasion a employee had the balls to threaten me after I told them not to call again. I expressed to a manager that I wouldn't mind taking a flight there and getting in the ring with the idiot (I"m a martial arts instructor and fight full contact). He was very professional and ensured that they would not call anymore and there is no way my number was sold. He kept his word and they have not called, but I continue to receive other calls from other companies that I've never talked to before. I really can't change my number due to business contacts.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks

I use one cell for sportsbooks and other business, with a voice mail, and another cell for friends.

Just use Caller ID, and don't answer. I leave that phone on silent except when I'm expecting a call. If it's important, they'll leave a message.

Only a few people have the other number, so no problems with that.

I hate cold calling myself bud. Whats even worse though is when the touts get your number some how, and you get that damn recording screaming in your ear 3 to 4 times a week.

The only way to really stop those people is if your part of the "no call" list. Why just last year a tout name Jack Price got fined $15,000 in the state of Missouri for that type of violation.

International numbers stop the touts, and prob 90% of the sportsbooks it seems.

I hate cold calling as well...I rarely even answer my home phone as most people call me on my cell...that's how I've dealt with it...eventually they get tired of calling answering machines...

Thank you for the responses. Unfortunately I can't put my phone on silent because I won't be able to hear it's not on me at the time. I registered the numbers with the national do not call list. Hopefully that will work.

            Thanks

I hate it when sportsbooks call me also. Cris has called me, even after I asked them to remove me. If you send an email to their customer service though, they will remove you.

The worst are those tout services though - they call your cell phone, and I don't know how to get them to stop.

I live with my Dad and I don't want him to worry about me betting because that's what parents are like, so I keep it secret.

One day I see an obvious palp from a UK bookie: PremierBet, and bet on it straight away, knowing that there was a good chance they could void it, but what the heck, it was worth a try.

A little while later my Dad knocks on my door and asks 'are you registered with a internet gambling company?'

I vehemently denied the accusation only for my Dad to say 'well one's just phoned up. They say that you are registered with them and they want to speak to you.'

So I go to the phone with a look of surprise, but inwardly I am like 'how dare you f***kers phone me without my f**king permission'.

I get to the phone and a woman representing PremierBet says: 'there has been an error with our pricing. The price of the bet you placed today was palpably in error. However we have decided that we will let the bet stand, and if it wins then you will be paid at the price you requested.'

At which point I wanted to say 'thanks that's great' but my Dad was in the room, so I let the phone line go dead and say loudly 'no I am not interested, please don't call again'.

All you do is tell them their violating the intra state gambling wire act and if they call again you will call the FBI, they will never call again believe me.
