For a while, I thought that eventually the U.S. would get really good at soccer, that it was only a matter of time, that we just had to focus on leading our youth to it more and nurturing the talent...

If you wouldn't have told me they lost, I would have never known that they even played. If the U.S. wanted to dominate soccer, they could. Unfortunately Americans just don't care for soccer, so there is no need to focus on dominating it, because even if they win, we just don't care.
