Oct 9, 2015 - Currently, the Federal Reserve pays out a 6 percent annual dividend to roughly 2,900 banks — JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, BkofAma, and Wells Fargo net approximately $350 million apiece each year from the dividend.

Walmart's low-wage workers cost U.S. taxpayers an estimated $6.2 billion in public assistance including food stamps, Medicaid and subsidized housing, according to a report published to coincide with Tax Day, April 15.

There's no doubt big companies get subsidies from the government, but because of the way much of it's done (government overpays for services), the dollar amount claimed often includes the legitimate value the government paid for a good/service (if IRS pays $1k per phone that costs $400 normally, $400 is fair value, $600 can be rightly considered subsidy). Tax breaks and the like are a different story, thats crony capitalism for ya...Clinton and trump are big fans of it

The claim that food stamps "subsidize" employers who have entry level jobs is less than a half truth, and ignorant of how market forces work. The going rate for these simple jobs is low, as they're unskilled and just about anyone can do them. If companies pay more than the going rate, they're outperformed by companies who don't and they go out of business. That will continue as long as investors want maximum returns and customers want the best bargains...social safety nets have nothing to do with it. Furthermore, your meme tries to paint poor people getting free stuff and walmart getting 'subsidized' as opposite forces when they're the same category

If you want government giving money to companies directly, more robbing-from-the-poor-to-give-to-the-rich, and more wasteful mismanagement of resources in general, the choice is clear: Clinton or Trump 2016

He mentioned it at the beginning of the clip...he's talking about the (approximately) 8 years between 9/11 and Obama taking office. Not that he makes any sense here (Bush, Obama, Clinton policies all fueled terrorism attacks), but he didn't forget about it.

Evidently you don't understand how business works. In 1986 kroger decided they weren't going to hire full time employees unless they are management. That way they didn't have to give out benefits. Also they made the people who could get health insurance thru their spouse employer have to go on it. They have a union that doesn't represent the employees but is hand in hand with management. They have went to the employees getting regular cutbacks to their compensation because the company was doing so bad but when they had record profits none of it went back to the employees. The reason I can speak of this company is best man of the union rep. Sister-in law is the person that travels to different states negotiating new places to build. Bunch of friends are mangement at krogers (they are in late 50's). Krogers is headquartered in cinti. These companies realize if they keep pay low enough that the govt will pick up the slack.

So Krogers maximized profits by paying market wages? That's kind of how businesses work, especially publicly traded ones where investors want better performance every quarter. Businesses will seek to get expenses down as low as sustainable, and that fundamental concept of business doesn't change legislatively. Those who believe they can demand lower prices as a consumer, high sock prices as an investor and that the business pays more than it needs to for expenses (don't know if you do, but many people want exactly that) are unaware of how businesses work, and their actions borne of that ignorance do nothing but add wasteful spending to businesses as they overcome the legislative hurdles and adapt.

Sounds really bad doesn't it? But look at the numbers: the 1-2% of military families estimated to be using some form of benefits have to be be pretty damn low income with big families. Military pay and benefits for the most junior personnel are above the level needed to qualify for aid...unless that servicemember decides to have a big family with a non-working spouse. Unsurprisingly, just like in the civilian world, having children beyond your means and having your spouse not work results in poverty, and qualifying for aid.

Is your solution to raise starting military pay so that no matter how many children someone has they won't qualify for food stamps? Or should we perhaps not set pay around the small percentage of people who take on more responsibility than they can afford and have to seek outside assistance?

You better raise that 1-2 by 10. When i was in the military there was at least 20% on it. So because you want to serve our country to better yourself you should put off having kids. WHen did it become alright to subsidize corporation? In 1980's for the farmers. Reagan took away the subsidies for the oil industry in the 80's. They came back in I would assume under w . I am not sure but that shell that we are subsidizing is a dutch company. There are only 2 oil companies that are usa based. I am sure marathon is one but not sure who the other one is.

No my thing is quit subsidizing corporations. Besides bailing out wall street we subsidize. Obama tried to use the subsidies we pay wall street to use on our infrastructure but the repubs stopped that. If you start a business does the govt. give you a subsidy?

Agreed. That's why I stick to music videos.

The other day I was getting my a$s kicked so I switched gears and posted Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game", followed it up with Michael Jackson's "Thriller" ...and for my coup de gráce I selected something really edgy - "Basket Case" by Green Day off their hit album Dookie.

There was no one left to argue with when I finished because I won.

Latest numbers are 1-2% by use at commissaries, could be a little higher but probably not off by 10 percentage points. Lowest possible pay in military is about $30k with BAS, BAH (not terrible for something you qualify for right out of high school with 0 experience); just like any job, if you try to have a non-working spouse and a bunch of kids before you get a raise, you're gonna be below the poverty threshold. There are plenty of reasons to make the military a better deal; adjusting pay for a minority's lack of financial/family planning isn't one of them.

Obama tried to use the subsidies we pay wall street to use on our infrastructure but the repubs stopped that. If you start a business does the govt. give you a subsidy?
Depends what you consider a subsidy....most people consider tax breaks to big companies to be subsidies, and small businesses actually can cash in on those disproportionately. If you add in the subsidies available if I was any kind of minority, veteran SBA benefits and patchwork incentives for random business areas that corrupt politicians use to funnel money back to their areas, the subsidies are potentially ridiculous. I don't want government to incentivize businesses at any level; the market is not only more capable but more efficient at it.

Sounds like a campaign thats been a sham from the start. Seems he's not intent on helping himself or building relationships that matter because he knows it was all a game from the jump. Same reason he constantly says and does things the exact opposite of what you'd think someone trying to win an election would do. His supporters are slowly catching on, took them forever though.

Of the 13 men — and they are all men — that Trump touted as economic advisers for their “unparalleled experience and success,” five are major donors whose families combined to give Trump’s campaign and his joint fundraising account with the Republican Party more than $2 million. Two more have been pursued for campaign contributions.
                                                                    Story Continued Below

Mnuchin gave Trump $425,000 at the end of June. Others big donors on Trump’s economic advisory team include:
                                                                    — Stephen Feinberg, co-founder and CEO of Cerberus Capital Management, who contributed $339,400 to Trump Victory, the Republican’s nominee joint fundraising account with the national and state Republican parties. Feinberg's wife gave another $339,400.
                                                                    — Andy Beal, a billionaire investor and poker player who contributed $449,400, the largest legal sum that Trump Victory can receive from an individual. Beal also gave $100,000 last summer to a pro-Trump super PAC, the Make America Great Again PAC, which has since ceased its activities. Beal has also been publicly linked with another Trump super PAC, the Great America PAC, but federal records do not yet show that he has donated.
                                                                    — Tom Barrack, a longtime Trump friend, who gave more than $399,000 to Trump Victory. Barrack, who spoke at the Republican National Convention last month, spent more than $15,000 on in-kind contributions when he hosted Trump’s first big fundraiser in Southern California — including $4,872 on beverages — in late May.
