Ray Rice pledges to donate entire salary to domestic violence programs if signed

Out of football since the <culink class="culinks" culang="en" href="http://curiyo.com/en/topic/Baltimore Ravens" title="" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px; border-bottom-width: 1px; cursor: help; z-index: 9000; border-bottom-style: dashed !important; display: inline !important; float: none !important; padding: 0px !important; margin: 0px !important; border-bottom-color: rgb(182, 20, 0) !important; background: inherit !important;">Baltimore Ravens</culink> cut him in September 2014 after video surfaced of him knocking out his then-fiancée in a casino elevator, Rice told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday he’d donate his entire salary in 2016 to organizations with programs focusing on education and prevention of domestic violence and supporting survivors and their families.

It’s an extension of the message Rice’s representatives have delivered to teams about his intentions in trying to get a job and resume his playing career after a two-year absence.

“All the scrutiny that I’ve got, it was deserved, because domestic violence is a horrible thing,” said Rice, the three-time Pro Bowl running back banished by the NFL (but later reinstated on appeal) amid outrage over the video recorded nearly 2 ½ years ago.“Me donating my salary is something that’ll be from the heart for me. I only want to play football so I can end it the right way for my kids and for the people that really believed in me. But I know there’s a lot of people affected by domestic violence, and every dollar helps. It’s raising awareness.

Guy was in amazing shape too.

Surprised no one wants to pick him up?

Or even for a 3rd down specialist.

    Crazy.

2.5 years out of the league is a long time.

Doubt he could perform even half as good.

Pathetic. All that does is draw attention to his crime or incident or whatever that was.

An RB's run is short, he doesn't have time for that nonsense. He should pretend it never happened and give non-answers when questioned. That will be good enough for some team, somewhere. Yes, that means he will be the bad guy from now on, but the bad guy getting a check. Instead he just feeds the story and is probably that much further from a roster spot.
