Why is the Kentucky Derby so popular? What makes this event so much more better than all the other races? It seems like a pretty big deal and whats the deal with the big ass hats the ladies wear?

The race is so popular due to the caliber of horses in the race and the size of the field. Essentially it is the biggest RACE in horse racing. In terms of the biggest racing day (or two days now), the Breeders Cup is the biggest. The big hats is a tradition. So are Mint Julips (which are disgusting) and guys decked out like pimps.Comment -

Horses use to be the Sport of Kings don't forget. It is a dying sport now though but the racce is still popular.Comment
