This is NOT likely to occur with someone who is a responsible gun owner.

It is ILLEGAL for a 9 year old to possess a firearm.
It is ILLEGAL for a person to carry a firearm on school grounds
It is ILLEGAL to not secure your weapons in your home.
It is ILLEGAL for a FELON (which is suggestive of the mother's history) to possess a firearm.
As suspected, all of these guns "laws" should have been enforced and no one would have been shot. Both highlighted sentences would bar you from carrying let alone possessing a firearms in ANY State as far as I know. If some States allow it, I'd be in favor of changing the law.

BREMERTON, Wash. -- A Washington state prosecutor says his office will seek probation and treatment for a 9-year-old boy who took to school a gun that accidentally discharged and critically injured a classmate this past week.

The third-grader faces charges of unlawful possession of a gun, bringing a dangerous weapon to school and third-degree assault. He is facing a capacity hearing in which a judge will determine if he knew what he did was wrong. If the judge decides the boy knew, the charges go forward.

An 8-year-old classmate – Amina Kocer-Bowman – was wounded. She is in a Seattle hospital in critical condition after undergoing surgeries.

Few additional details of the case have been released, though the investigation may include a look at how the boy got the .45-caliber pistol that went off in his backpack.

Hauge said his office is working with the investigative agencies involved in the shooting.

Police believe the boy got the gun during a weekend visit with his mother, Jamie Lee Chaffin.

According to court documents, Chaffin has been convicted of forgery and drug crimes. As a felon, her right to own a firearm was revoked. She completed court-ordered drug treatment, and no additional criminal charges were filed against her after 2007.

The boy's father, Jason Cochran, has been convicted of violating protection orders relating to Chaffin and has been taken to court for child support.

Both parents relinquished custody of the boy and his two sisters to his paternal grandmother. She died shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010, and the boy's uncle Patrick Cochran was granted custody.

The boy's family bailed him out of juvenile detention and took him to his uncle's home Thursday night. Bail had been set at $50,000. The boy will remain under house arrest and must check in daily with the county juvenile department.

I was in a hurry and misread your post. I see, you're on my side, right?
Guns and religions, all over rated for what positive benefits we reap from both. They are both lies being fed to our youths at an early age. They both, together, have killed more people than any one thing in the world.
    Am I not correct?

Men, the spring and summer is before us, and what better time to be packing and shooting with those little killers. In winter time, those cold handles are no fun at all.

URGENT: Suspect, believed to be a student, in custody after shooting at Chardon High School near Cleveland, police say, as 5 are wounded with 3 students reportedly in critical condition, while school remains on lockdown.

Indiana, I just read, is considering a Statewide ban on smoking. How about a Statewide ban on those little killers. The law presently states that you may get a permit to carry a gun. Nice.

    A mere coincidence, I imagine?

WARREN, Texas (AP) — Sheriff's deputies have taken a 12-year-old boy into custody after witnesses reported he pointed a loaded gun at a classmate standing in the lunch line at a rural junior high school in East Texas.
Tyler County Sheriff David Hennigan says the seventh-grader apparently objected to comments the student made about a female classmate. Hennigan says the .25-caliber pistol was loaded, but there was no bullet chambered.
Two coaches escorted the boy to the school office and held him for deputies. Hennigan says he has been placed in the juvenile detention center in adjacent Hardin County and will be charged with aggravated assault.
The incident happened in Warren, a community of about 750 residents in the Piney Woods, about 80 miles northeast of Houston. Warren Junior High's enrollment tops 1,200 students.

I am sorry, but what does the illegal underage possession of illegal firearms utilized while committing an illegal act on illegal ground have to do with my right to legally carry a firearm?
    What would another law do?

Stop the proliferation of firearms in America?
    Nobody is that dumb.

I know you are happy as a pig in shit, that there is a tragedy that you can exploit for your agenda, but it is just simply irrelevant, you are completely twisting the debate.

In your mind, Mr. Facepunch. More later. You'll probably like my next post on drugs. You probably believe buying and using drugs is a citizens given right, too? Glad those people don't carry guns.

Just to be clear here....I don't see how you could ever twist this particular incident or exploit it, to suit your side of the argument. Nothing is being twisted here. When horrible shit like this happens even the GUN CRAZIES (like you), can't argue that this would not have otherwise happened if the GUN CRAZIES (like you) weren't allowed to have guns.
Anyone who is happy when they read about these things suffers from some sort of mental or moral defect.
No one is happy when they read about these tragedies but when GUN CRAZIES (like you) try to somehow use these stories to justify your gun touting beliefs, it simply blows my mind.
These stories are completely relevant to our point.
I guess what I am asking is:
If GUN PROHIBITIONISTS (like me) can't use these stories to further our side of the debate, then that the hell can we use?

Never let a tragedy go to waste, right? Time to pull out all the stops and call me crazy numerous times to drive that point home. You're doing great.

Seize the tragedy perceived or otherwise and use the vacuum that occurs in the confusion afterword to push your agenda,
    -Shock Doctrine.

Who's trying to twist the argument now?
All I was trying to say is that these types of stories about easy access to guns, should only help to create a little bit more awareness about who has all these frickin' guns.
Sometimes these posts raise awareness, sometimes they don't.
Sometimes people don't really care so much that there a lot of guns they are more concerned with the type of people that have them.
For instance I like having a healthy debate on the forums about this but I bet you that if I were ever to have this conversation with you in your local bar I would be terrified. No one one wants to piss off the guy with all the guns, That's not hard to understand.
I think this all that people like you really add to the pot.
And I dont think you have done or said anything here to disprove me.
