#2Where did you hear this?
Agent: Favre has no plans to un-retire
"He's retired, he doesn't have any desire to come back, and that's the way it is with Brett," Cook said. "He's mowing his grass. He's working on his farm. He enjoys that stuff."
Cook said he originally asked the Jets to release Favre after the season as just "the order of business. Brett wants to retire as a Packer and that's just part of it."Comment -

#4Appears to be just a rumor created by some writer, and it makes for good fodder, but nothing has come directly from Favre or his agent.Comment -

#13Would be the best qb on the Vikings by far. When he was healthy early in the year, he looked good for the Jets. He will unretire after hanging out at home for a couple months and will get the urge to play again. Vikings are a decent qb away from being a serious Superbowl contender and would sell out the dome next year.Comment -

#14Bigger question is, the Packers did word the trade with the Jets very strictly: if the Jets dealt Favre to another team inside of the NFC North, there would be penalties imposed through the draft.
However, I am unsure if the language in the agreement included if Favre were to retire and then be released, thus becoming a free agent, if those penalties could still be levied against the Jets.Comment -

#19Originally posted by CrazyLouWell I guess ultimately he's a free agent now and can do whatever he wants, I was just interested if there was specific language about the Jets releasing him and if the penalties could still be applied should be join another team inside the NFC North.
I wish the Packers would've traded a conditional 7th rounder to the Jets, similar to the Bucs/Broncos deal for Plummer a few years back, just in case. I know it would suck to endure the Favre unretirement drama again, but at least the Packers would have a card to play if the inevitable does happen. I even think it would be an easy PR spin, "the Packers wanted him to retire as a Packer".
Nevertheless, Favre will play it cool for a few months but he'll return as a Viking. It seems clear as day to me. I'm sure they've already been on the phone. The only problem is that I don't see the Vikings offering him the 12 million he was set to make for the NYJ. He's not worth 12 million anymore, even on a 1 year deal. Maybe half that. He still kicks the snot out of Rosenfels/T.Jackson though.Comment -

#22Originally posted by CrazyLouAny books hanging odds on this yet?
I live directly between Minneapolis & Green Bay. There's nothing to talk about around here except the Favre soap opera. It's pretty obvious that Favre has finally got what he wanted, absolute freedom. He wants to stick it to the Packers. He's got strong connections to the Vikings' QB coach. The Vikings run the west coast offense, which Favre has run his whole professional career besides with the NYJ. The Vikings don't have a legitimate franchise QB. Favre himself is not going to retire until he physically cannot take a snap, we all know that of the NFL all-time iron man. There's no doubt how the cards are going to fall.Comment
