I saw it on Sportscenter but basically the kid is in high school and threw 4 straight no hitter games. He went for his 5th today, alot of media at the game including espn, and he got rocked.
I just find it a bit amuzing because he said he might consider skipping college ball and going to the majors, and even had some serious inquires from teams.

Hes throwing to a bunch of high school kids who cant even paint there pricks let alone hit a good baseball.
He is not ready for the pros. Watch him get shelled in college.

By the look of him, he is ready to pitch mid relief for the Yankees

you do realize that about 1,500 kids get drafted every june to play pro ball right? and they aren't all college kids, i'd say 250 is on the low estimate of high schoolers
kid could go second round and get a 100-400k signing bonus

There were 8 HS kids in the first round alone last year, 2 of whom where pitchers. Going straight to pro baseball from HS is not uncommon in the slightest.

Yes, usually 5+ years before they make it to the major leagues, if at all. Even if they are very good prospects.

Yes, but they can't be signed to a contract with any team.

yeah they start out anywhere from rookie ball to low A ball if they sign right away.
very rarely a kid will get rushed though in a year or two, very rare. I think Mark Prior breezed thru the minors, but he was a college pitcher I think.
mr. money, if you are drafted you don't have to sign and you can go to school. You can be drafted every year, (just not by the same team two years in a row)
most teams only sign about 20-30 of their 50+ picks

According to Wikipedia, as of 2002 the percentage of college players drafted vs. high school players was 60/40 and there are around 1500 players drafted each year.

If they are drafted by a team then decide to go to college they are no longer the property of the team that drafted them, and have to wait until their junior year to enter the draft again.

A local radio station here was offering free concert tickets to any show they wanted to the first kid who got a hit.

Kid is not a kid. He falsified his birth certificate. He is actually 32. He did a Greg Oden.
