What is the best Smart TV current market for Sports?

Been a good year gambling and shiny objects everywhere. Looking for your opinions on the best Smart TV on the market. I'm looking for something around 50 inches under 1K. Don't play any video games so just sports and movies and also a lot of streaming hulu/netflix/mlbtv etc.

Have had my current TV for 8 years now and it works perfectly but no Smart features and I think I'm ready for an upgrade.

Does it get any better than this one? Can price match it down to $950.

Thanks, Nuk. I'm not trying to be super thrifty it's more that I don't know if I'd even appreciate a TV past a certain quality/feature level. I'm mildly color deficient and I don't need a ton of functionality.

Don't waste your money on 4K. The cable/sat tv companies don't have the ability to give you the 4K quality. Wait for that, drop some coin on OLED as it's actually better, relevant technology, or wait for the price of OLED tv's to come down.

mlb will have 4k this year. and alot of Sports stations will be airing in 4k.

For movies and cable content 4k isn't worth buying. But for the sports fan and sick gambler 4k is the way to go

Tat - Always make sure when selecting a Smart TV.... it's just like how a computer has a processor... some manufacturer's have a slow chip... and it makes a Smart TV pointless in regards to processing what you're selecting on the screen. Do MEGA RESEARCH FIRST.... one of my friends purchased a SMART TV and he told me it was the dumbest move he made. He said... the thing malfunction's all the time when selecting Netflix... the WIFI sucks. WIFI always dropping. Do the research man. Best of luck.

Thanks TMS I always do. I rarely buy anything and when I do I'm checking everywhere (hence thread). I didn't even own a tv back in 2007 and I bought one just to be able to watch the Warriors playoff games. Still rocking that tv to this day and haven't had any issues.

TAT - Another idea... If the WIFI isn't consistent or drops from time to time.... you could always hard wire from router to Ethernet port on the TV. I don't know if these newer TV's have an Ethernet port or not? I would imagine they do. Don't know if you wanted wires running everywhere or not? But you could easily hide it through drywall etc. I typically hard wire everything in my house.... because I want the fastest internet speed. Then hide the wires.

Might give you a better connection to MLB.TV

the top shelf sony tvs are good but the low to mid priced ones are trash. short life spans. at $999 that sony will be ok for you though.
