this team is so bad it's hilarious. the only guard on their roster that might have a place in the league is Grant. Lopez is serviceable and plays hard, so can't really knock him. lots of hype around Porzingis, but the idea of building a franchise around him is just stupid. Thomas is a decent bench player.
outside of that, the roster is simply atrocious. as is the triangle and entire coaching staff. yet Phil has no problem stealing $12M per.

I guess you gotta to give them a little credit for going to the Finals twice in the 90's. They've done a little better then the Jets. You knew this was a terrible franchise when they continue to over pay Carmelo Anthony.

look at their roster. enough said.
robin lopez aaron affalo jose calderone?
all 3 are role players at best and each playing 30 min a game. affalo plays like 40 minutes most nights. joke.
1 great player on entire team and 1 rookie who has potential to be very good.
can't win in the nba with that formula. very obvious. i can fix that team in 2 months and put together a playoff team 100%.

Anthony is a great player whether anyone likes to admit it or not. He's one of the top 5 offensive players in basketball. 1 on 1 unstoppable force. 1st ballot hall of famer.

Any team with Carmelo as alpha dog is doomed... he would be excellent 2nd or 3rd option like Glen Rice was to Shaq and Kobe

This is where you showed you're obviously not watching this kid or the Knicks play.
What Porzingis has showed in his rookie year at the age of what 19, has been astounding.
He gets no flow of offense because of Melo.
He's easily overachieved under the current circumstances on such a terribly coached offense.
He sets screens and never gets a look when he rolls because of the shit guards he has, it's easy to stay on him.
Wait until someone like Rondo possibly suits up with him.
Kid is an absolute monster for a 19 year old.
Gonna be so good once Melo is out of the picture, just has to chill for a minute until Knicks find a way to dump him for some draft picks.
Look for the Bulls to put together a decent offer for him this off-season, possibly the Celticsor Magic as well.

So much money in NY that nobody cares about such nonsense as winning anything. They are gonna be operating at profit no matter what.
anyone that is consistently top 5 in scoring in the nba for pretty much their entire career is a great player. 13 years in the nba, guy is top 5 in scoring almost every single year. what star has melo ever played with? never had a star on his team except iverson who only had 2 good years left in him in denver.

Glen Rice is not even in the same breath as Carmelo Anthony. Couldn't do anything on the court close to Anthony. Anthony is a 1st ballot hall of famer guaranteed. 2nd option maybe I agree. Third option? No way. No one in the nba can guard anthony 1 on 1. That's a 3rd option? 3rd options on championship teams are low-level all stars like Chris Bosh or Paul Milsap.

I think that Melo really needs someone that can show him how to win, what it takes, the little things, the sacrifices. Lebron had to team with Wade to realize that. It humbled James imo. Remember how cocky james was before he had any titles. Suddenly, after he won two ships, he realized what it takes. He became an ambassador of the the game -- he lost that CHristianoesque attitude.
Melo needs to have that winning culture around him. The only time Melo had a real winner on his team was Billups, and they almost beat the Lakers that year to get to the finals -- but Kobe denied them, as expected.
For the rest of Melo's career, he's been playing with talented but loser players like JR Smith.
Knicks roster is atrocious. No one on that team even has playoff experience except Robin Lopez and affalo and a little calderone. And those guys have never done anything in the playoffs. They've all been ghosts. And then you only have one all-star calliber player in Anthony. Just horrible by Phil Jackson.
You can't win on a team like that...

I agree, he is better than Glen Rice but no way he is 1st ballot hall of famer. No titles, no MVP awards, not even single All-NBA first team selection... basically he is player who puts up great scoring numbers in shitty teams and thats about it. You cant build championship teams around players like that

considering the longevity of his career... if he keeps going at this rate which i think he will for 5 more years, there won't be many guys that have his career numbers. i agree if he does nothing for next 4-5...no deep playoff runs....he won't be on first ballot. but i expect carmello to fight for a ring these next few years. he's tired of losing.
mvps are overrated. nash has 2. rose has 1. melo is a much better player than both of those guys. like you said, he's played on shit teams his whole life. I do think if you give melo another 2 all star players he can win as the first or second option on a team. but time is definitely running out for him. with lebron and durant....it's been almost impossible for another forward to get recognition on the first team. same way d wade has been robbed of numerous first teams because of bryant year after year.
curry is the best scorer in the nba and they built a championship team around him. not really that good of a defender either. just average/above average. don't want to say mello is in curry's league but you can build championship teams around high powered scorers like that.

This thread... Worst Franchise, Glen Rice, Hall of Famer Melo, needs 2 more stars, etc... Is this for real or a bad dream? Melo could go down as the biggest disappointment of a "star" the league has ever seen. Outside of his selfish numbers his leadership, play and attitude have been piss poor. Nobody wants to play with him. He has never won a single thing in this league. He is a disgrace. The owner should ask for his money back from him.

not considering most nba minds and coaches consider carmelo anthony a top 12 player in the nba currently. so i don't see how it's late. give anthony literally 1 all star to play next to him -- a top 25 player -- and I can guarantee you he will make some noise in the playoffs.
