Why hasn't Peyton Manning announced his retirement yet?
What's he waiting for?
I assumed it was a foregone conclusion.

He has a contract with a group representing the offshore industry that stipulates he may not retire until the volume of money wagered on whether or not he retires hits in excess of $250,000,000

Elway's decision with Brock's FA is equally interesting.

Guys, I hope he comes back.
I never want to see legends retire.
I'm hoping Michael Jordan and Bill Russell consider making comebacks, too.

Len Bias had all the tools for greatness.
It's too bad he decided to take his career another path.
He now does optometry work in the Baltimore area.

I can't even imagine he is very happy about this Superbowl win. Considering the kind of competitor he is and he knows he didn't have to do much, I doubt his ego can ignore that.

Maybe, but still...
I can't imagine a better swansong for a guy that has nothing left in his arm.

Have a gut feeling he's taking a huge pay cut and coming back. I think Elway is deciding who gives the Broncos the best chance to win back to back Superbowls because I'm 100% Manning is telling him he could give it another go. Manning will retire if Denver don't bring him back though.

oh yeah, he's gotta know it's time to go but no doubt about it he is fighting his ego.
what do the broncos have to lose though is what you have to wonder?
I doubt Brock is who they plan on taking over the franchise. They would drop him in a second if the opportunity arose so if they start the season with him and leave peyton on bench it might be worth a shot. Peyton in game-manager mode is still better than most especially when it comes to reading defenses.
Not much to lose because if you start brock and he goes 0-6 you're screwed anyways. Whereas, if you start him and he wins even 3 games you still have options with peyton on the bench. If peyton is ok with playing game-manager it could happen. I wouldn't count on it.

You got to also remember that Manning was throwing without his planting foot thorough the playoffs and most of the regular season, that's why his passes were off target. Now that's he fully comfortable with Kubiak's he won't have to do much next season. Personally I would like to see him come back and shove it in all these media's people face for bashing him about a 20 year old scandal.

yes. with 4-5 months off to heal he will most likely be better next season then this season. and with that team he has the chance to win 2 titles in denver. he cant do any damage if he comes back. if they go 9-7 and miss the playoffs because of him no one will remember

What's Ryan Leaf up to nowadays? Is he out of jail? How about Todd Marinovich?

Manny, how have you been? Are you excited about David Price coming on board?
Do you know how many playoff wins that guy has?
You must be fired up.

Can't the guy recover from SB hangover? Peyton is very methodical and gonna make 100% sure before official announcement I'm guessing. He won't be back in Denver need $$ for more important players moving forward. Leaves him with 2 possible options IF he decides to play Rams and he said last time won't play in nfc last courtship so most likely down to 1 if they want him in Houston.
Been saying forever IF he makes the dumb choice to return and believes he's still got it this is what he needs.
1. Great defense
2. Solid o-line
3. Weapons on offense
4. Great weather or dome
5. Most importantly a contender
6. And likely won't play in nfc but unlike last time not gonna be much demand for his service so he may need to reconsider.
Texans only team really that fits the bill and don't have a decent option at QB really. He would be a fool to return though with his health, playing ability, fukking up perfect ending storyline, and does a 40 year old man really want to start fresh in a new place?

Woody Paige has confirmed that Peyton should ride off into the sunset in a few days. I'm certain he wanted to come back but Elway didn't so he decided to retire instead of playing for the Rams or Houston.
