If the nba's numbers are good it only means they are giving the people what they want. Says more about the audience than the players...think about it like this too, players are employees, when business is booming and everyone is making crazy money people tend to lose focus on what got them there to begin with, of course there are people that work hard no matter what, those guys are keepers..

NBA as a total product, I'd agree. With that being said, Popovich recently said to the effect that the Golden State Warriors are playing the best basketball he's ever seen and that he'd pay money to watch them play. Playoffs should be good.

It's all about the $$$. When a guy like Andrew Bynum can totally ruin a franchise like the 76ers by just sitting on his ass for a year after they traded for him, then have another team pay him millions after they cut him loose, only to totally screw the Cavs by being uncoachable, you see what the NBA has come to. No wonder Philly let go of all the veteran players, at least you can pay rookies less and get more effort out of them before they get spoiled and look for a payday to sit back on. There's no love for the game anymore and until fans stop watching it will only get worse.

This thread is spot on. Players today are weak. I feel we will never see teams like the 88-89 Pistons, 90's Bulls, 94-95 Rockets. How about the great defensive teams of the 90's that didn't win like the Knicks, Sonics and Pacers. Probably could add the Jazz to that list as well. League today is hard to watch. Too many teams tank now.
