In a report none of us ever want to type up, it appears St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey has been shot in the head, but not suffering from life-threatening injuries, According to Mike Silver of NFL.com. His source confirmed to him that Bailey will undergo surgery in the morning. and the Rams are gathering more info.

Stedman, a third round pick for the Rams in the 2013 NFL Draft, is a product from West Virginia University.

Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Bailey was shot twice in the head while sitting in a car with 2 young relatives & his cousin. He is in stable condition in a Miami ICU. The driver was shot many times, shielding the kids from bullets. His wounds are life threatening, noted Rapoport.

Around midnight, the Rams issued an official statement on the situation:

We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening. We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more.

Every other story that I've read so far(including the link that I posted) says that the wounds were not life threatening. I read about this story earlier in the morning before I even seen this thread. The driver of the car has life threatening injuries.
