Lifelong Skins fan (insert obvious joke here). They were dismissed by the media before the season began largely (and rightfully so) because of the RG3 drama and how poorly they handled it. There is no question that the owner is a fink and (once again) overly involved himself on who was the starting QB. I'm not calling Cousins anything more than a 'game manager' until I see otherwise but THEY ARE a much different animal w/o RG3 in there. He was completely lost and will never be an NFL QB.
If you watched the first two preseason games you came away thinking their O-Line was the league's worst. If you watched more carefully, you also noticed that the O-Line somehow became much more focused once RG3 was no longer on the field. The point stands that the trenches on both sides of the ball for the Skins are much improved from last year. They should be able to run the ball successfully against the Giants and with Matt Jones continuing now in the regular season what he did ALL preseason, they have two options in the backfield with Alfred Morris and the rookie.
Now, with all that said, Eli has historically always ripped up the Skins secondary and while some think their secondary is improved, I am not of this opinion....at least yet. The secondary looks better because the front 7 has been shored up and improved & have taken pressure off them by applying pressure up front.
The Skins can stay in and cover the spread here as long as Cousins keeps away from those mind-numbing INTs (he had another one in week 1 vs the Dolphins). If you can get the Skins +4 I think it's a great bet because their D is going to keep them from getting blown out this year (against most teams anyway). The Giants are one of those teams all bettors hate because it always remains a question as to which team shows up. Fortunately for the Skins, the Giants weak spots are in the trenches (and on both sides of the ball) and this is exactly where the Skins are coming into shape quickly. Sure the Giants handled the Falcons rushing game last week but ATL is not considered a strong run team so don't be fooled by those stats. The Skins match up well in this game, take the points and (hopefully) the Skins win it outright.
