two years ago the final series between these same BlackHawks and a banged-up Bruins had some epic long OT's...one of them to the third if i recall correctly...
but don't think i've ever seen the plumbing rung so often in an OT...
heart-stopping whichever side of the ML you're on

compare this nail-biting barn-burner, typical of the NHL playoffs...
to the typical NBA playoff fare: exchanging blowouts at random till one team hits 4 first
"squeak squeak...time out...squeak squeak...free throws...squeak squeak...video review...squeak squeak...tv-timeout" anyone???

vinnie the key is simple, every ot you add more to what was already a big bet to begin with. all a sudden every shot is excruciating, exciting, every save heartbreaking or relief! vinnie i dont even like hockey but the nhl playoffs are the best...

I'm not even the biggest hockey fan but how was this game a snoozefest? One of the better hockey games you'll see and you're watching the 2 best teams in hockey imo. Props to both goalies for playing unreal tonight.

my bet cashed...but even if it hadn't...i got every penny's worth of excitement-magnification that a ML-bet can bring...
i honestly can not remember seeing a clearly better hockey game...especially from the perspective of near heart-attacks caused since the game was tied at 2 late in the second (and not decided until late in the 6th)...

I'm with banker here...regular season hockey is good...but playoff hockey turns into something waaay beyond good...it's the truest form of pure "sudden death" that does it (not the bullshit soccer version which is a "sort of sudden death with a face-saving kicky-lottery escape clause that both teams can hold on for" that doesn't even deserve the name)...
ironically the NHL should drop all the tie-breaking crap they do in the regular season...the "shootouts" are just stupid lotteries...sudden death is only good if it's sudden death to the end, like in the playoffs...not needed in the reg season at all (just let ties be ties...but in the playoffs, damn "real SD" makes the games more entertaining than ANYthing else in team sport...)

says it all...good thing the NHL playoffs come once a year and lasts about 6 weeks...only so many heart- and/or brain-induced near hear-attacks one can take...

I would LOVE to see the ducks win it all, but i can;t see them beating Chicago, but i would love to be proven wrong. Watching that 3OT was nerve racking even if i did win money. I had a feeling the first 2 would be a spilt, so the loss as a duck fan doesn't really sting, i knew we would have to go to Chi-Town and win 1 and if they can't do that, they shouldn't win the series, i hope they go to Chi-Town and spilt, then it's their job to hold ice. We will see, i will continue to put money on Chicago, but wouldn't mind losing AT ALL.

Ducks just had an awful first seven minutes. Without that we aren't even talking about 3OT. Great game. Think these insane shifts the top 4 d men of Chicago play may catch up to them.

yea the ducks have to impose their will and steal one in Chicago and just focus on holding home ice and they can take this in 7
