Very unusual experience with a sportsbook manager - "betting behavior"

deposited at a book and went on a good run just picking off bad numbers. one day i log in and i cant bet, account disabled. the manager emails to call him to discuss my ``betting behavior''. i phone and he says hes not happy with my betting behavior, that im just betting dogs and thats it. i tell him i like to bet dogs and they offered good odds so what am i supposed to do. he told me to mix in some favorites and parlays etc. i said ok. what else am i going to say.

well the next week i throw in some teasers that werent even +EV, hit more dogs at good odds, and won again. im not saying i am a huge sharp that never loses (believe me i lose a lot at other books), but at this book i just couldnt lose. i must have gone something like 25-5 or something like that, racking up a "sizable" balance.

this was before christmas. i just got back from about 3 weeks vacation and hadnt logged in until the other day. i cant bet anything, not even golf or tennis. theres no email in my inbox. III have to contact customer service.
they say the account is closed again, and then email me back a bit later with the message "unfortunately you have not changed your betting patterns so your account has been disabled for the time being".

im currently waiting for a payout and lets just say this book does not have the best reputation so im concerned. has anyone else ever run into this? getting banned or limits cut for winning is nothing new, but to telephone a player and tell him to stop betting certain teams or certain odds and to instead mix in some super square plays and parlays... i have never encountered this before.

and when they say they don't like your 'betting pattern' they mean your pattern of 'winning' I assume?

Un fuk'in real how these books treat players who get on a little winning streak! What's the name of the book ron? Don't be affraid to blast their name here. We all appreciate a good heads up when players are treated like shit. I'd get my money out of there and tell that manager to get fuk'ed! "Betting behavior" because you're pick'in dogs? WTF! What's next, deposit your money and the book picks the games for you? Good luck gett'in your payout. Sounds like you might have a big fuk'in hassle on you hands. I'd file a complaint with SBR. Turn SBR Pro bro, we look out for bullshit like that!

if they pay me i have no gripe with them other than my personal opinion that i think it is kind of sad to call players and tell them to try and lose. if they pay the case is closed but if not then i will reveal the full details

The point is to accuse you of "suspicious betting activity" as a matter of course....and BTW you are guilty until proven innocent, so even if they have to pay you, they will first accuse you of fraud, want every ID doc in the world, and blackball you in the industry all because they lack the nobility to limit you, or pay you and shut down your account.

If they pay they save face on the forums by not having their name mentioned, but if they dont pay then it all comes out.

You were warned about "just picking off bad numbers" and continue to do it? Need to hide it a little better.

I don't think that was his point.

His point was that instead of just showing him the door, the book essentially said, "you can stay if you make more square bets".

why is this weird or a suprise to you? They are in the business of making money. You were stopping that business so they gave you the option to lose and stay with them. You chose not to and are hurting their bottom line. Obviously he wants you gone.

See I don't get why a book wants people gone. They aren't in the business of people losing money they are in the business of scalping, right? Guaranteed profit is what they want. So if there is a little more sharp action, why can't they just, in this example because he bets dogs, bring the -7 down to -105 from -110 and even it out? Maybe this is easier said than done.

If his bets bothered the book so much couldnt the book lay some of his action off? makes no sense.

It can't be Bodog. They would've dealt him the "other line" if he was only taking dogs

What I don't understand is why would you continue to play with this book when they first locked the account? Why not just say okay I am out of here? You basically tell them okay I will lose money to you so that I can play here still. Do you think if you won with those "square" bets that this book would still want your business? I mean I just don't see what sense this makes on your part.

Why is this thread so cryptic? Isn't this the whole point of SBR--to review and monitor books? What book is pulling this shit?
