To elaborate on the Utley post, he is having an historically unlucky season so far.

Since 1945, the lowest BABIP is .196 (Aaron Hill).

Chase Utley is currently at .086.

That's unreal.

Like I said, I love the guy, I love them scrappy up the middle infielders, but that bat speed looks like a 42 year old, 20 year veterans bat speed hanging on to his last year of his contract.

I saw Utley's third ever game as a pro at the old Vet in Philly, told my buddy, "Kid is going to be a good one"

I did, and I understand all saber numbers, I hear what you are saying, my point is Utley is a shell of the hitter he used to be, even if 50 percent of those balls in play fell in he'd be around .235 still.
