    Going Pro?
Hey guys i havent been on here in a while but just got back and am thinking of getting a pro membership and i have a few questions.

    1. Is donating $100 to charity the only way to turn pro? I thought there were other ways?

    2. Has anyone actually received anything significant through redeeming their points at the SBR store and is there anything special you have to do to receive the products?

Thanks guys any help would be appreciated

As Far as your "Pro" question you can contact SBR live chat and ask them your options...I'm sure they'll help you out. Getting stuff with your points does have some restrictions (inside the US vs outside) but just keep your address and e-mail stuff straight and there's no issue

I think I got 2nd in NCAAB bracket last season. Redeemed $800 in gift cards. Beat the prick contest is worth it for the price of 100 buck.

Welcome back Mike. I loved you in Space Jam, not so much on the baseball diamond.

I've cashed in a little over $1500 in vividseats GC's to see multiple sporting events. Well worth it.

If you eat pizza, ever, you will get your $100 back with pizza cards. If you can earn some points in the book, casino, contest, or other means then you can easily get a $100+ gift card to somewhere

Also, all the best contests require pro. When I finished in the top 10 in BTP in 2013 I wouldn't have got my cash if I were not pro

Nothing like promoting your own thread but I am going to do it anyway:

Math may have changed a bit but now you get 2 years for $100 if I remember right so it is so beyond +ev it really really makes no sense not to. I think in the last couple of years since I went pro ($200 buy-in during BTP two years ago) I have cashed in about $900 in target gift cards, and another $800 in cash from various contests. Plus donating a bunch to charity as well which I get some personal utility from.

Even if you do nothing but log-in, you can make your $100 back just by logging in 2 of every 3 days!

I've cashed out a few thousand worth of Sbr stuff including a 1K southwest giftcard. If you want to put time/effort into it and you're somewhat able to win in the Sbr sportsbook it's pretty easy to get your investment back.

That said the value/return isn't nearly what it used to be and I don't see any point, personally, to being pro anymore.

Does all your EV math include giving your personal information and book accounts to a random ass website in Central America? One that isn't quite the best at customer service and keeping players informed. I was ready to go pro until I saw the application, then shortly after the poker was drastically changed and it's just not worth it for me. I see how players are ignored constantly and it just reinforces my decision. Ended up donating the 100 to make a wish on my own instead. I at least feel comfortable they will keep my info secure.

                                                  Let's break this down.....

Some of us are too paid and just don't care could be a reason for not becoming a pro, maybe some of us are afraid of getting banned or are already giving to charities.. Some of us are just too repulsed by some of the posters and not sure they want to hang around either..

For those that aren't paid it could be that you are compulsive gambler and would rather wage that $100 on a live bet instead..

Being broke could be one of the reasons for sure, as in you're just not that good at gambling and flash in and out of the forum when you have a betting bank roll to play around with, which is not that often....

3000 bet points transfer limit when becoming pro is something to consider and wait on as well..

I'll be a Pro soon but for me I originally thought you should be a Pro gambler to hold that title as a PRO... I learned that's not the case unfortunately...

i bought pizza for my brother and gave 2 target cards to my 20 year old niece. just something to do. Although it seems like the non pros are the ones that run the asylum.

I at least feel comfortable they will keep my info secure.
this was a post directed at US players and donating to charity as a means of going pro. SBR never gets any of my info - I don't have a book so they couldn't get that even if they asked for it. Your last sentence was how the math was developed.
