I was lucky... This is documented on the forums: I bought $500 worth of btc at $5. Made a few bets with anonibet made a small profit but didnt like them at the time so I sent all of my btc back to my personal wallet and just watched the climb. Sold at $520 per
However , they broke 1000 and a couple of posters made snide remarks about me selling too soon - Oh well
So... I'm doing OK with btc

Overall trading Sam. Since day 1. Not one hot shot day. Regardless... I find it hard to believe you didn't get clipped like others when it was dropping like mad. Regardless... you love Bitcoin. We get it.

Switzerland lifted a peg off of Francs - that's one hell of a reason for it to sink...can someone name one good reason for BTC price movement (up or down...I don't care)?

That is why you remain ignorant - You believe what you want disregarding ALL of the reasons and facts to the contrary
Most normal people who are ignorant on a subject will ask questions instead of making pronouncements and will research the answers given to their questions. I think you are past the ignorant stage and moved on to the FOOL stage - We get it.

Always remember that many currencies throughout the world are very unstable and extremely risky
The greatest minds in the world have lost tons of money trying to trade it
A rare few retail investors can make money trading any type of currency

it usually never just one reason when the movement this significant. some things driving down the price currently imo, are the widening services that are offering shorting options on btc, Chinese markets not doing well, and negative publicity stuff like the recent hack theft and the silk road trial.

It was the main reason in this particular instance...they've pegged Euro to 1.20 Francs and defended this position for 4 years.
There is a mounting speculation that the European Central Bank will next week back a big stimulus program that will put more euros in circulation which would further dilute their value. That expectation has pushed the euro down to near-decade lows against the dollar.
As the outlook for the euro has darkened, the cost for the Swiss central bank of defending the peg by buying euros or selling francs has risen.
And that's why after 4 years they gave up on it
it has nothing to do with Chinese banks and silk road

Way too much personal information being asked when dealing with Bitcoin. Kind of ridiculous.
I see it as the opposite. There is no personal information being asked.

Ok fine so it seems or appears to be a valid way to move money, a true virtual currency. Ok so when you want to buy it who is selling it? who invented it? and what is the outstanding amount of BTC in circulation and how can it maintain an average price, if and when the BTC printers decide to print more like any good fed reserve, what happens then? You had 80k today and wake up tomorrow and realize oooooppppssss My 80k s now worth 5k on a reverse split type deal/ new issue / reprint of new currency. why because the owners /inventors who hold all the coins decide to move on to the next scam and have made their multi billions....
The entire dollar market collapsed and all the real money got out and safe with billions. then a new virtual currency is invented and you do not believe or foresee that it will have its day and then eventually be gone or have pink sheets status? please.
Moving money the the old pay buddy or ppal as some might like to call it was great for moving money once upon a time and then this past year sends out emails to every holder of an account , "this year we will be reporting all tax documents and reporting revenues over and above $20k.
So ppal got a nudge from the uncle and said show us the money or pay us.. hence no good for moving money anymore.
everything has their day.. do not become a bag holder by being asleep just because someone touted to you it is a great way to move money for gambling..
CASH is KING and always will be

Bitcoins are made through mining. If you want accounts at 5 different cash books starting at $1000 with each book, you have to tie up $5000 and wait for processor fees and delays that come with it when withdrawing.
You can leave $1000 worth of bitcoins, or whatever your total bet amount for that day, in a wallet and be able to play at all the bitcoin books since transfers are done so easily. There's never a need to keep a balance at a book outside of what you are betting.
The other advantage to bitcoins is that it's anonymous. You don't need to produce a driver's license, utility bill or any other form of identification.

Coinbase will close accounts of those suspected of using transfers for gambling purposes. It may be best to go another route.

raiders can you give us some info on how a coinbase place tracks the location and intentions of bitcoin transactions? does this mean bitcoin transactions are not really anonymous? could the book
figure out the coins came form coinbase and your actual account also? who can learn what on these transactions? what actually happens to see a bit coin deposit went to an off shore book?

If that's true, bitcoin will die quickly. Can't believe coinbase would submarine their own business. Unless the authorities can track the payments and hold them accountable, which again kills bitcoin

Coinbase is located in the US and they are taking a proactive approach.
We can still use trucoin, circle, localbitcoins and bitcoin ATMs to buy and sell bitcoins.

As you know, when you sign up with Coinbase they want your personal information. Coinbase knows the bitcoin addresses that you use. All bitcoin transactions can be viewed on the blockchain. If I have your bitcoin address, I can see all the transactions that you make.
I don't know how Coinbase can determine that the money is being sent to or from a sportsbook without knowing the books address. Each player has a unique address that they use with a book to deposit.
Coinbase closes the account based upon suspected gambling. My account was closed.
A book such as Nitrogen uses multiple payout wallets. They also allow you to change your deposit address up to 5 times a day. It's a nice precaution for those using Coinbase.

Trucoin is instant but has a high fee. Circle is currently advertising no fees but it takes a few days. You can purchase bitcoins through a variety of ways using localbitcoins.
