#7Really more than that. You have to win 54.5% to breakeven. So let's say that you win 53% of your bets, which is damn good. And let's say you make 200 $500 bets over a year. You go 106-94.
At -110:
106 @ $500= $53,000
94 @ $-550 = -$51,700
$1,300 profit
At -120:
106 @ $500 = $53,000
94 @ $-600 = -$56,400
$3,400 loss
At 53% winning you go from a $1,300 profit to a $3,400 loss. As you make more bets over larger amounts, it only gets worse. It's not like you're just losing 10% of profits. It can easily be the difference between being a winner and being a loser.Comment -

#13That is terrible. Unless he is giving very juicy off numbers. No point playing with a cheapo bookie charging -120
Even -110 is a thing of the past.

He's the Korean grocery store. $5 for a gallon of milk, but if you want it now, you'll pay for it. And if you don't know what the price of milk normally goes for, you'll pay for it too.
And I'll bet he'll be around for a long time so long as he doesn't get busted. Just because we understand -120 has no value doesn't mean that 95% of bettors out there have any clue. Have you talked to the regular everyday schmuck who bets sports?? They don't know ANYTHING -- about anything.Comment -
