That economic growth started almost 2 years before Clinton took office, despite him running around in 1992 and lying that we were in the worst economy in 50 years. The last 4 quarters under H. W. Bush saw very strong economic growth, the slowest quarter was only 4.2%. The first 4.5 years under Clinton averaged 3.2% growth, and that was after those tax hikes were implimented early in Clinton's term. Then in Summer of 1997, he cut capital gains taxes, and the economy did better, growing at over 4% average until he left office. The only Republican to cut capital gains taxes more than Clinton was Warren G. Harding. Since WWII, there have been 3 presidents to leave office with capital gains rates lower than what they inherited: Carter, Clinton, and W., and W. gave us the smallest cut of the 3. Isn't it futile to point fingers at elected leaders when we, the people, vote them in? I mean, in all seriousness, the shortcomings brought up in this thread such as market collapses, income disparity, housing, et all- don't all those issues result from individuals failing? The housing market collapses because people stopped paying their mortgages (more sellers then buyers); the income disparity increases because more people choose not to work or work smart or work for less then others; the equities market collapses because individuals panic and liquidate their investments in a knee jerk fashion (it did bounce back).
This is a great dialog for a gambling board, but in the end we all have to earn our own success, our own cash via our own means. It doesn't do anyone any good to point fingers at a fail, to point fingers and blame or point fingers and be jealous. Suggesting political parties or various politicians are crooks or immoral doesn't do anyone any good. Understanding that noone else is going to fix your problems might thou; stopping the insane jealousy might thou; stopping the arguement about disparity or privelage might thou... gotta spend more time earning and stacking your own paper people, stop trying to take everyone elses.
