#319not looking to engage with someone who is in favor of outsourcing peoples jobs to the 3rd world, then disregards that person as a 'victim' who is either too stupid or too lazy to have started have started their own business and live a self sufficient life.Originally posted by MinnesotaFats1) If you are of the belief that the 58 year old woman is "entitled" to a job or $58k/ year, please tell me why. If someone in India can do it better for less, why can her company not do business there? Did the woman spend her disposible income on vacations, TVs and other impulse items or did she invest in said company that is now going to have (presumably) better margins? I'd say the woman didn't put herself into position to win, but rather has set herself up for a fail. This links to the gambling analogy in the same way as a compulsive gambler bets the same team over and over again on the basis they are due- can't acknowledge that said team is finished. Or the gambler who borrows $5k to fund a weekend binge in LV at 2 points a week- and then complains that the juice is making his life impossible afterwards.
2) An informed electorate should not elect on the basis of behavior modification, and that is what politics have become. Human behavior is influenced by money and self preservation- ergo any politician is going to seek monetary gain while in office, goes for either party. It is a growing portion of the electorate that is misguided in it's expectation that any politican is doing work to better them (the voter) personally, that is not the job of government. Granted, politicians will make empty promises to garner the votes of the misguided, but once on the job basic human nature- the desire for money and power- will rule the day and only the voters who failed to position themselves for success will be left complaining. Standing there, hat in hand, playing the victim, pointing fingers and blaming a politician for their outsourced job or their unemployment benefits- while their neighbor is just as likely to have worked for herself, lived life cautiously, invested wisely and have the werewithall to weather a financial or political storm and live comfortably and happily, without having to rely on a politican or a political "hail mary" for money to support themselves.
No, what you described is a misguided electorate. However, as evidenced this past week, even a misguided electorate is willing to take responsibility and make changes when all other options have been exhausted.Comment -

#322Of course you wouldn't- instead of discussing this lady's shortcomings as an individual and/or her inability or unwillingness to take proactive measures to ensure self sufficientcy you'd "pick up your ball and go home". Sounds pretty typical of growing number of disenfranchised voters who, as implied in my earlier statements, have turned over control and responsibility of their lives and livelyhood to a 3rd party rather then take it upon themselves.Originally posted by scumbagnot looking to engage with someone who is in favor of outsourcing peoples jobs to the 3rd world, then disregards that person as a 'victim' who is either too stupid or too lazy to have started have started their own business and live a self sufficient life.
For that portion of our populous I (and many other persons) have no sympathy- absolutely zero sympathy. If your first instict is to abandon the debate and file for victim status then so be it- good luck; it won't end well (life that is). However, if you can engage us (me) here and convince me you understand an individuals role/ responsibilities in a republic and capitalist economy and follow that up by convincing me you understand a businesses role/ responsibilities to it's shareholders in a capitalist economy then maybe we can enlighten each other. #323Liberals/Dems are quiet here on the Obamacare prevarication - Dem congress critters purposely lied and obfuscated the truth in what Obamacare really was... Not shocked tho - They knew the rank and file dems were too stupid to catch-on
Sad...
Just a reminder : NO Repub voted for Obamacare
And in the immortal words of then Speaker Pelosi - “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of controversy.”

#326dude as a democrat ; I for one was against obummercare. What people don't realize is that it is nothing more than euthanasia! Sort of like going to the v.a.I am a veteran and refuse to go there. They killed my grandmother. One of my buddies went in with a cold and never made it out. Another went in and came out missing a leg. You can't sue the govt. unless they give you permission. Obamycare caused my insurance company to change my insurance. Instead of $1000 max out of pocket last year it caused me $5000 this yr.Comment -

Reid's tactic killed the Dems running for reelection ... Only bills they were allowed to vote on were the ones blessed by Obama - That's the reason they all had 97-99% backing Obama ads run against them. Moderate Dems were not given the chance to vote against Obama when many would have thereby helping them in their moderate StatesComment -
