Who tips on take-out?

I pick up food a lot at all different places and been noticing when I get the food and pay (whether it's at the bar inside just at the front); when you get your card back to sign these people seem unpleased when you hand back a signed un-tipped total.

Shouldn't even be on a blank line for "a tip" on a takeout bill.

in decent family places maybe the little high school chick that works pettrillos in san Gabriel,ca (yelp em the best pizza in so cal imo ) just gives me the stink eye ....I would ditch the joint but they are the best pizza this side of the valley. people are self centred assholes here they feel like you owe them that tip for them being them and your pizza wont be any better and sure as hell not hooking it up charging for extra crushed red pepper....see what I mean only an a$$hole would come up with an idea like that.

there is no such a thing in US as free lunch - you gotta work for your money, tips...etc

and that's coming from a guy who would generally leave 20-30% tip if the service is good
