Uconn wins fourth and most important title in 15 years
Absolutely astounding. This was the most important because they no longer have the recruiting cache they had in the old big east. But nothing says come to our school like being national champ. This tourney run was so crucial to the future of uconn basketball

Huge. Comin from being banned last season and losing their coach and recruits.

They beat some very good teams along the way. Shabazz learned from the best and made this tourney his bitch. They deserved it.

I kinda like how they are now, was under the radar and overachieved all year with decent not great talent, but played ball the right way and won. When a little more talent comes in it may be harder for me to make money off of them with the lines lol, but no doubt this will get them better recruiting.

plus their women dominate it's pretty clear who the powerhouse is in NCAAB, but they NEVER get that respect

mostly agree but you see coaches come in and sustain success short term but struggle when all of their own players come in....mike davis at IU and bruce weber at UI come to mind most immediately

fortunately for uconn ollie was a part of the program during all of the recent success but its another thing for him to be the guey long term

end of a generation coming with boeheim, k and roy williams all likely in their last few years....probably big enough jobs to get whoever they want but timing could be big if theyre all going after the same pool of coaches

Maybe if UConn athletes start learning how to read and actually get an education, they would get more respect.

I agree about your comments about Davis and weber and coaches momentum fading drink. But this is areally unique situation. Uconn had lost the huge recruiting cache of the big east and has an unknown coach who never even had been to the tournament. Most the other big east power teams that left big east went to big ten and ACC so they didn't have a change in their ability to recruit. Also they end up in a conference with only villanova and louisville as far as marquee teams. Louisville is not going to have any problems recruiting they not only were the current national champs they got rick pitino running the show. This title, or at least final four was crucial for uconn to stay near the top. Remember before this title they had three titles in last 14 years, more then any other squad so make no mistake they were still a top top program. Now 4 of 15 and they are the top national program now.

Villanova is screwed . Out of big east and louisville and uconn will get the choice players not them. Nova will collapse in the next decade

who cares??? do you listen to athletes most of they are penetrating stupid, even that Randle kid sounded like an idiot, idc about education that's not why bball and football players go to school, which is why they need to unionized. The fact ppl care about how smart they are, mean nothing to what they do on the court you don't win championships for being smarter and getting good tests scores. BTW i know some guys who don't go to college and failed out who are pretty smart. test scores and grades are so overrated

Complaining about uconn academic scandals after they just beat kentucky? Are you kidding? I love calipari but his rep is not exactly squeaky clean

It just took me 30 seconds via google to find different academic scandals in 4 different years of the last five at the holy grail of college hoops North Carolina. There are more but this should suffice.

i am not a uconn fan, they are no different then other big time programs . Probably cleaner then most actually
