Is Dillon Gee really the "ace" of the Mets in Harvey's absence?
What's the play here?

No, I haven't even looked at my local weather.
I believe you are implying the game will be cancelled?

Just a little tidbit. As a Met fan and I watch every opening day and they have the best opening day record of any team in the league not sure why. As well as being one of the best interleague teams. If only they could win some of the other games.

With their 11-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Monday, the Mets improved their opening day record to 34-18 (.654). No baseball team has a higher winning percentage in season openers

I would assume that you know enough that "pounding" a -175 line in baseball has disaster written all over it.

Can't believe I just wrote that.

Also while Gee is no ace he is very capable. He could throw a solid 6-7 of 2 run ball. Also last year in Mets only game vs Stras they beat him and he got the loss. They got him for 4 runs (2 unearned). Gee 6-3 with a 3.21 in 11 starts last 3 years vs Nats. Last year 4-2 with a 2.62 in 6 starts.
GL with what you decide.

Also take a peak at Gee's monthly numbers after May last year when he changed the grip on his change.

Credit goes to a poster, named Palmtree, who brought this interesting tidbit to my attention a few days ago. He noted the relatively strange decision to have Strasburg pitch to the Mets in Spring Training, within a week of his projected opening day start.

Don't listen to these clowns Stealthy.
Take it from a Met fan, this team should not be bet on all year. They will lose 95-100 games. They will compete with the Astros for the worst record in MLB.
Take the Nats runline tomorrow if anything.
Lot of wood to lay without it.
Mets will get pounded.
And GEE sucks by the way.
No potential whatsoever.

I don't care What the Mets opening day record at home is, the Nats are a play tomorrow.

The nats always seem to start out slow offensively, maybe the under is worth a look.
Both sides make valid points here.

btw, I'd encourage everyone to take a hard look at the Rockies tomorrow. I feel that there's value there, given the Marlins anemic offense, struggles against left handed SP's, and the Marlins will likely play it cautious with Fernandez's total pitches.

Don't sleep on my boy Gee. Picked him up 2nd half last year in Fant. Quality start just about every time out. I think the bullpens will give up a few runs, but don't see either starter giving up more than 3 in 6-7.

there is no such thing as mets play great opening days..teams change all the time and that means zero. That's like saying notre dame is 100-30 vs navy all time..ummm..notre dame beating navy in the 1960's means zero today. Mets suck..will prob lose 5-1

The mets pen, which had to be last or close to last in MLB last year, is EVEN WORSE this year lol.
They are going to be the bad new bears of 2014.
I honestly think the Astros may win more games than them.
Lay runlines against the Mets this year everyday, I bet you come out ahead.

Nobody should be playing the Mets solely because of their opening day record. Just thought it was some information someone might want to know. No information is bad information. But Gee was great since May last year. Just bet all the favorites and aces all year I'm sure that will work out well throughout the year.

made a lot of money betting "no runs scored in the 1st" in Mets games last season-good pitching staff, below average lineup
going with that today

Gonna be laying a ton of juice on that and every Mets game for that matter.
I'd be shocked if they aren't dead last in offense this year.
