Okay apparently everyone who has worked a token number of quarters qualifies for Medicare at age 65, u can also get Medicare early if you are disabled but heres my question...
Clearly the costs of treating an 85 yr old person will be many times on average what it is for a 30 year old person bc all 85 yr olds are shortly approaching death and theres clearly going to be some things going extremely wrong, which begs the question why would you treat an 85-90 yr old multiple heart attack victim for 100s of thousands of dollars who is just going to be left in good enough shape to be bedridden another year before they die and NOT cover someone who is going to in general need many times less medical attention and if something seriously expensive happens to them they can be healed and live a normal life for another 50+ years, this really makes no sense to me, I mean if medical science has some incredible breakthroughs where you can live to be 200 I would understand it, but with the avg. life expectancy being 78 how can you invest billions in treating 85 yr olds and 0 in treating 30 yr olds?
Truth is under the current level of medical technology Id be willing to forfeit my post 85 Medicare coverage (perhaps post 80 as well) to qualify for Medicare now bc I know that if I have a major medical problem before that time frame it would be an incredibly beneficial thing to have health insurance whilst if I had Medicare post 80 it would either extend my life a couple years in horrible shape or I would die simply bc my years have run out, what do you think?
