I personally feel he was justified for pushing the guy and i had no problem with it. Just because you're a fan doesn't give you the right to make racial slurs at athletes. It's not a right of the fan to do or say what they want. If TTU has any moral compass, they will ban this guy from all future games. There team is almost entirely black and the fan made a racial slur against blacks. He provoked the entire incident.

However, the NCAA has to make sure there players don't touch there CUSTOMERS. Remember, college sports are a business and with any business, nothing is more important than the cash flow. And the cash flow starts with the customer or in this case the fans. They NCAA and the schools had to suspend him regardless of what their personal beliefs were. I can promise you, everyone understands where Smart came from and why he did it. And honestly he didn't even go over the top. But they have to make their customers feel safe and show they will not tolerate one of their employees (Smart) being physically aggressive towards their customers.

Orr issued a statement claiming he called Smart a "piece of crap".

Maybe he did. I find it hard to imagine that piece of crap gets that kind of response (even from a kid who is amped up)

Also, Orr says he'll voluntarily refrain from attending any TT games this season.
