TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — The first recruiting service has called it.

Alabama is the recruiting champion for 2014, according to Rivals.com. It's the sixth title in the past seven years for the Crimson Tide.

And it wasn't even close.

Alabama's six 5-stars and 13 4-stars gave the team an average rating of 3.92 and 3,263 total points.

LSU was second with a 3.74 average star rating and 2,844 total points.

The SEC West dominated with four of the top 8 in Rivals' rankings. Texas A&M was sixth and Auburn was No. 8 while Tennessee represented the SEC East at No. 5.

In terms of 5-star recruits, Alabama's six was double the next best total pulled in by Florida State.

he is the best recruiter in the nation. #1 class like 5 years in a row now. and say whatever you want about lane kiffin, but he is also one of the best recruiters in the country and now they have joined forces.

Last night, kiffin visited rashaan evans who is the #1 linebacker in the country. evans is FROM AUBURN, GOES TO AUBURN HIGH SCHOOL, AND HAD BEEN VERBALLY COMMITTED TO AUBURN FOR A YEAR. Saban had been recruiting this kid for two years and had failed to flip him to bama. Kiffin had never met this kid once (hell he has only been in tuscaloosa for 2-3 weeks). Kiffin, having never met this kid one time and with LOI day mere hours away, visited him in a last ditch effort to get him to flip to bama. Keep in mind kiffin is the ofensive coordiantor and evans is a linebacker. The visit reportedly lasted about 15 minutes.

USC's class of 03 was ridiculous. You do have to bring in the players, but only time will tell if they're going to pan out. SC's class of 03 had Bush, Lendale White, Steve Smith, JDBooty, Sedrick Ellis, Lawrence Jackson, Ryan Kalil, Fili Mola, and Terrell Thomas. Oh, Sam Baker as well.
Whitney Lewis was in this class and a bust, but a 5 star get. Drean Rucker lost his life too soon, so who knows there.

How hard does Saban really have to recruit anymore? Alabama has so much momentum, and Saban such a lofty reputation, that the football program effortlessly sells itself. I imagine the recruiting season for Bama's staff is like shooting fish in a barrel, with an AK-47. They have the luxury of cherry-picking the best available and probably get acceptance from about 90% of the kids they covet. I may be exaggerating a bit, but it must feel like a cakewalk compared to other universities. Saying no to Alabama is akin to declining an Oscar nomination at this point.

Yes not setting history with THREE titles in a row and going 11-2 with both losses being decided late by crazy plays to two top quality opponents is getting buried

You would be onto something if you mentioned the losses and/or trouble games in recent years have been to a specific type of threat (Cam Newton, Manziel, Marshall and Knight) but this is mainly because 'the process' was built to win the West and own the LSU's of the world. The lack of a true pass rusher or line disrupter has been the weakness. This was addressed now. Front will be vastly improved now. Offense should shine at all positions as well regardless of which QB wins the battle this spring. I'll be in Tuscaloosa for the A Day game as always in April so can't wait to see the product for 2014.

45 points and 7 sacks given up to a Sooner team missing several starters due to injury....obviously OU's line was too fast for Bama considering the Tide surrendered 7 sacks.

OU's skill players were also too much. 45 points allowed??? I thought this was a vaunted defense. Hopefully Bama got some more team speed.

Yes. Saban is a great coach and Bama is a great program.

I'm just not as high on them after watching a down OU team pretty much have their way offensively and in the trenches with the pass rush.

OU was missing their best defensive lineman, best linebacker, do it all FB, a RB, WR, etc. and still won by 14.

Granted, OU and Bama are programs that care more about winning titles than meaningless BCS games. Lets see what happens in a playoff.

As for Stoops, he is a much better coach as an underdog. Just look throughout his career and even the last two games this past season.

OU was double digit dogs in both games and won straight up.
